Hi I'm Collin Childs

I grew up in SLC, Utah. I attend Brigham Young University. I am currently serving a mission in Anaheim, California.

About Me

My name is Collin Childs. I am nineteen years old. I am from Salt Lake City, Utah. I have grown up as a member of this church. I went to Highland high school in Salt Lake City where I played baseball. Other interests besides baseball that I have are skiing, golf, and mountain biking. I recently completed my first year of college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where I am majoring in mechanical engineering. I am now serving a mission in Anaheim California. I departed July 16th, 2013 from the Provo MTC. I know the church is true and I love sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Why I am a Mormon

My family and I have not always been members of this church. When I was eight my parents gave my the ability to choose if I wanted to be baptized. At this time my dad was inactive and my mom not a member. After the missionary discussions I made the decision to be baptized. I don't necessarily remember why I decided to make this commitment to follow Christ and be baptized; however, I believe it was the promptings I received from the Holy Ghost telling me that this was the right thing to do. Looking back, this has to be the best decision I have ever made. The Lord has blessed me and my family in countless ways through the Church. When my dad and I started going to Church I instantly made many new friends my own age who live in my neighborhood. I have been able to stick with some of these friends all through high school and even into college. Their companionship and good influence has brought me so much happiness that I could not imagine living without. The Church has helped me stay out of trouble and grow up right. Even though my mom is still not a member, the peace the gospel brings to my house is very comforting. When I was young I would have never imagined I would one day be serving a mission and attending BYU like I am today. I am extremely grateful for the path to happiness baptism has put me on, and I can't wait to share the gospel with others to help them find the happiness I am able to enjoy.

How I live my faith

I have made the decision to serve a mission because I have witnessed the blessings my Heavenly Father has bestowed upon me and I want to share the joys of this gospel with others and help them come unto Christ. I know we have a Father in Heaven who loves us and wants to bless us. All we have to do is be righteous and do the Lord's will. I believe missionary work is the best way for me to give back to my Father for all that he has done for me and my family. I am so grateful for my knowledge of the gospel and my membership in this church.
