Hi I'm Val Heine

I love to take pictures, play sports, design websites and laugh with friends. I served a mission in California and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived all of my life in Oregon. I love the outdoors. I grew up drawing, reading and playing outside. If I wasn't reading on my grandma's couch you could find me walking the nature trails, feeding ducks or swimming in the river. I am very interested by computers and how they work. I love to create things and solve problems. Recently I returned from serving a mission in the California Rancho Cucamonga mission. I love talking, laughing and meeting new people. The Church has helped me grow in every aspect of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love my Savior, Jesus Christ and because I know that this is where Heavenly Father wants me to be. My best friend introduced me to the church and I found the thing I was missing in my life. I always felt there was more to life and I have found that in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Being in the church is not just a Sunday thing, it is a way of life and it's a way of life that I want to be apart of because it allows me to be me, but a better me, a more loving me, a happier me.

How I live my faith

I am a convert. I was baptized in August of 2011. A year and a half later I was in California teaching others about our church and our Savior Jesus Christ, just as I was taught by two elders. I love meeting new people, and sharing my experiences with the God. Before I was called to a mission I was the first counselor for the women's group, Relief Society, and I helped with the activities and visited the other girls in the young single adult group. I loved helping them and being able to grow with them. It was one of the ways I live my faith. I have built my faith by reading scriptures, praying and living the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know that the only way to know if something is true is to try it out for ourselves. That's why I love this Church. It's a church of action! As a missionary I got to help others build their own relationship with Christ and serve God's children.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Val Heine
Mormons live just like any other person. We laugh, we cry, we make mistakes. We have friends and get togethers, throw parties and study in groups. We have fun just as everyone else in the world does but we hold ourselves to a higher standard. When we go to parties, we avoid drinking and drugs, because it harms our bodies, when we talk we avoid saying things that would offend others, because we love them, and when we hang out, we do things to strengthen and build each other. We want to become as Jesus Christ was, perfect. But we are humans so that is impossible, but we still strive for it in all that we do. We love people for who they are, we help people because we can, and we live our lives as the Savior would. Show more Show less
