Hi I'm James Acaylar

I'm from Nampa, Idaho. I'm an artist, writer, game designer, missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an aspiring game developer. I love to create things whether it's drawing, writing, or crafting and I've been blessed with an overactive imagination courtesy of my Father in Heaven. I have the best friends a guy could ask for whom I value like family. I'm from glorious Nampa, Idaho and am currently serving as a missionary in the New Mexico, Farmington Mission (the best mission ever by the way).

Why I am a Mormon

Going to Catholic church was just an hour every Sunday where I killed time by playing with pencils and occasionally shaking someones hand. One day I overheard my sister meet with the missionaries. I wasn't plagued with questions of my existence. I didn't wonder where I came from or what I was supposed to do. I was just a kid, but when I heard that message something clicked. I knew it was true. I immediately wanted to join, but due to family issues I had to wait, biding my time and learning everything I could about the Church. Six years after hearing the Elders, I was allowed to be baptized. I bear witness to the truthfulness of this Gospel. This is the one true Church on the Earth today. Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. I know that Jesus Christ came to this Earth and sacrificed himself for us. I know the power of the authority and leaders of this Church. I know that my Father in Heaven is not just my own. He is yours. He is hers. He is his. And I know that the Lord has brought the fullness of his Gospel back into the world today. I testify to the truth of the Book of Mormon. It truly is another testament of Jesus Christ. It contains the fullness of the Gospel, intended for us in the latter days. I testify that anyone who loves this gospel as I do, and takes it into their lives with fervor and passion unmatched, will know true happiness. I testify that this gospel is the shield against the horrors of the world today. And I testify, that I am not alone, and neither are you.

How I live my faith

I teach 8-11 year olds every Sunday. Or at least I did. Now I teach anybody and everybody as a full time missionary for the LDS Church. I've never regretted being out here so far and I never will.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

James Acaylar
I'm a gamer. I love playing video games. I love them so much that's what I want to create. If you ask a carpenter why he chose that profession, probably a good number of them would tell you part of it is because it's what Jesus was. Well, I like to think that before Jesus was a carpenter on Earth, he was a game developer in Heaven. You see, what a game developer does is they take an empty template, nothingness, and craft a world from it. Sometimes even galaxies for it. Then they create the science, the physics, that dictate how characters interact with that world. Then they inhabit that world with actual characters from all walks of life. Of course this would go nowhere without a drive, something to work towards, that's where the story comes in. The story is what guides the characters in the world. And because of that, there is an endgame. An end that everyone works toward, but we as players are free to pursue that end in our own ways. We have agency so to speak. When I think of this creative process I have used many times, it gets me thinking. This is exactly what it is like for us, but it's real. Our lives, the Church doctrine, even science. It all comes together so perfectly it only could have been made by a creator, a developer. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

James Acaylar
Women in God's plan have some of the most important duties and responsibilities. God has gifted women with the tender spirit of love and the sacred power to create life. In God's kingdom, men and women both have roles that balance out into perfect equality. None is greater than the other. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

James Acaylar
If I worship ANYTHING other than God and Jesus Christ, it would probably be food. Just kidding. Members of the Church do not worship Joseph Smith. We acknowledge his calling from God and the great work he did in bringing about the Restoration of the Gospel. The Prophet himself said, "We only worship God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ."
