Hi I'm Cory Blue Young

I grew up in Monticello Utah. I'm currently serving in The Texas Fort Worth Mission, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was raised in the Church but I can honestly say I never understood the significance of that until my mission. My family has always been a huge part of my life, I have great older brothers who have been great examples to me. I have a lot of adorable nieces and nephews that provide me with plenty of entertainment. I grew up in a small town and loved every second of it. Because I grew up in a small community I fell in love with the mountains. Some of the most memorable experiences of my life have been while I'm hiking, or fly-fishing with my Pops. Music is also a big part of my life. I'm very passionate when it comes to my music and I could talk your ear off. I love playing my guitar, if I only had my jeep, the mountains and my guitar I'd be set. I play sports as much as I can especially basketball. I loved playing high school ball, and I miss it like crazy. I still sometimes catch myself thinking about the "glory days" whishing I could go back and play. I'm currently serving my mission in the Fort Worth Texas mission, or what I like to call "the best mission in the world". I'm not to sure what will happen after my mission, but I plan on attending BYU-Idaho.

Why I am a Mormon

Serving in Texas where there are a lot of different denominations and faiths (Bible Belt) I've had the opportunity to talk with many people that are as passionate with their beliefs as I am with mine. I've had moments where I've wondered "is this true?" and have had to go to God in humble prayer and ask in faith. With many opinions out there, I realized that there is only one source for pure truth and that is my Father in Heaven. I know that he has provided us with The Book of Mormon for safety in a world full of opinion. I have studied The Book of Mormon and have found that it provides me with peace and power that only God can provide. I know that I could not fully understand the Atonement without The Book of Mormon. I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! This Church provides me with the answers to questions that seem to bog down modern Christianity and for that I am eternally grateful. I'm a member of this Church because it requires my best and allows me to stretch and grow. I love being a Mormon, and all that it entails.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving the Lord and all of Gods children. I live my faith by keeping my covenants and doing my best to stand as a witness of God at all times and places. That is one of my favorite things about being a Mormon, is that I feel a desire to live my faith everyday and always be an example to those around me.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Cory Blue Young
We do not worship Joseph Smith Jr. He was a prophet of God, and because he was, and is a prophet we revere his teachings, we cherish the doctrine that he restored, and we honor him for laying down his life as a testimony of the truthfulness of The Book of Mormon and First Vision. Joseph Smith was a revealer of Christ, and I am forever grateful for that. I am and forever will be a student of the Prophet Joseph Smith. Show more Show less
