Hi I'm Brad

I grew up on a farm as a beekeepers son. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was a nationaly competitive runner for 12 years in the 800m, 1500m and X-Country (10km) events. I have a degree in Development Studies and am currently enrolled in a masters degree in Disaster and Emergency Management. I have a wife, 3 daughters and love them all very much. My hobbies include swimming, biking, running and Tai Chi.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because in 2002 I didn't have a religion to follow but I yearned for a deeper purpose in life. I prayed vocally one day that I could get to know Jesus Christ and be baptized if possible. Within a week, I met the missionaries for the first time and they gave me a Book of Mormon and taught me about Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon gave me the relationship with Jesus Christ that I was looking for. My family and friends encouraged me not to join the church so I investigated for 3 years. During this time I attended serveral Christian churches, studied the Muslim and Buddist faiths, studied and practiced Native spirituality in which I received a name, Mooxwalagugus (meaning smiling eyes) and traveled to Vietnam to volunteer at an orphanage. I made many friends of numerous faiths, felt a deep connection with nature and found purpose in service. However, when the missionaries asked if I knew the Book of Mormon was true, I could not deny them. I decided to get baptized in July of 2005 despite much persecution from friends and family. I met many new friends in the church and 4 months after my baptism I met my wife. We now have 3 beautiful daughters and are expecting our 4th child soon. I have found the greatest peace in serving in the the temple weekly and remaining worthy to call myself a true disciple of Jesus Christ. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

The basis of how I live my faith is reflected in my attendance at church for 3 hours every sunday with my family. Every monday evening I conduct Family Home Evening which consists of praying, singing gospel songs, an activity, a treat and sharing a spiritual message. Every day I have personal and family prayer and scripture study for the purpose of getting to know Jesus Christ and teaching my children about his gospel. I visit individuals and families in their homes, teach them the gospel of Jesus Christ and offer encouragement and service in times of need. I help organize activities for adults that promote phisical fitness, learning important life skills, and community service.
