Hi I'm Abby Van Tienderen

I grew up in Salt Lake City. I am about to serve a mission on May 15 2013 in the Canada, Vancouver Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of 6 children. I have been playing the piano for about 13 years and love music. I love the sun, and one of my favorite things to do is to go boating and water skiing with my family. I am currently attending college at the University of Utah and leave for my Mission in Vancouver Canada on May 15th, 2013.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised in this church my whole life and come from a long line of LDS ancestry. The church has always been a big part of my life and the lives of my family members. Growing up in Salt Lake City, and in a family that are members of the church, going to church and participating in the gospel has never been a huge trial. Although, I still had to learn and grow in the gospel and decide for myself whether this church is true or not. Through various experiences such as attending church, getting baptized, participating in young womens and seminary, reading the scriptures, and praying about the truthfulness of it, I have come to know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's one and only true church on the earth today. Joseph Smith restored the gospel and translated the Book of Mormon to give the world more scripture that testifies of Jesus Christ. I know my Savior lives and loves me as he loves all men. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and is involved in my life to help me return to him. Through Christ's atonement, I can be forgiven of my sins. I love this gospel and I know it is true because I have lived it, have seen blessings in my life come from it, and I know without a doubt that I am living the true gospel of Jesus Christ restored by Joseph Smith. Any and all who seek the light of Christ and a knowledge of his gospel will find it if they ask the Father with faith. In the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I have participated in various young women's leadership positions. I also served on my high school's seminary council which was an amazing experience to work with youth learning about and expanding their testimonies of the church. I am currently serving on the family history committee for my single's ward indexing records through the Family Search program. I love service and jump at every opportunity to serve others through the church or otherwise!
