Hi I'm Tanner Steed

I like listening to Jeffrey R. Holland. I like to drink Dr. Pepper. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I know how to read. This is good, because I like to read books. If I'm not reading, I enjoy eating. Also playing sports. Hockey, basketball, running, whatever. My family is cool. I have 3 younger brothers and a little sister. Sometimes we fight, but usually we love each other. My mom likes me to eat healthy and my dad likes me to get good grades. What good parents. I have gone to one year of University in the city I grew up in, Calgary. Just for the record, Jeffery R. Holland is an apostle.

Why I am a Mormon

I am enrolled in university as a Biology major. So studying things like evolution, and DNA. Basically everyone I was in class with was atheist. A lot of people didn't understand how I could believe in God. After a while, I started wondering why I believed in God, and then if I believed in God. I reached a point where I really needed to know not just if the Church of Jesus Christ was the true church, but if God even existed in the first place. I can't really say an exact moment when I realized that I did believe in God independent of what anyone else said or did. It didn't happen overnight. The idea that at death our consciousness just evaporates into nothingness cannot be true. Just think about it for a minute. The theory that we are no more than just an advanced type of monkey is false. There is something about us, our intelligence or whatever else you want to call it, that is just intrinsically different than any other living thing on this planet. These are logical arguments that for me helped me to begin to develop faith. But there comes a point where it needs to be more than that. It takes faith. There isn't an answer for every question. We don't know everything about God or about his Gospel. But I have read the scriptures. I have prayed earnestly wanting answers and being open to whatever answer I received. And I have lived the Gospel to the best of my limited ability and the spirit and the joy and the happiness that has come into my life as a result is undeniable. There is a certain joy that can't be found in the things of the world that has come into my life as a direct result of my faith in Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am nearing the end of a two year mission in the United Kingdom. I have preached the Gospel all over the south-west of this great country. I excited to return home where I can continue to share the Gospel with everyone I know and to serve in the Church in whatever way God wills.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Tanner Steed
It's sweet. A lot of people, and the media, want us to think that being happy is about money and parties and immorality and power and things that like. I think that actually true happiness is found in being with our families and with people we love and for me the Mormon lifestyle is a lifestyle that puts family first. Show more Show less
