Hi I'm Dora

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, nickname for us is Mormon. I was raised in Slovenia.

About Me

I am a mother of two boys, now grown up, and have four grandchildren by my firstborn. My second born is to be married this year. I am currently retired and living with my husband who will be 88 this year and needs my love and care. We married in 2011 and were sealed in the Temple in 2012.

Why I am a Mormon

I was not very happy in my previous church although I knew my Heavenly Father and and His Son Jesus Christ existed. So when missionaries knocked on my door and offered to tell me more about God, I was excited and invited them in. They introduced me to the Prophet Joseph Smith and we read the Book of Mormon. I was fascinated with the Plan of Happiness and the fact that we have lived with our Heavenly Father before, in the spirit world and that we promised our Heavenly Father that we would go and obtain our physical bodies on this Earth and work towards returning back home to Him once our earthly mission was completed. I so wanted to come back to live with Him, and knew that through our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ, I could. I was asked to pray if I needed to be baptized again since I was baptized already as a child and did not think it mattered to which church I belonged, as long as I kept the commandments and helped my fellowmen. After several weeks of learning the true gospel I knelt and seriously prayed to know if I had to be baptized again. I received a thought that when I finished my prayer I should go and open the Book of Mormon randomly and I would find the answer. I did so, and the book opened on 2 Nephi 31, where the whole chapter tells us why we need to be baptized. I knew that if Heavenly Father came to my room and told me His answer, it could not have been a more direct answer to my question. I was baptized in Adriatic Sea at sunset on 1 October 1995. My happiness was complete as I felt pure and clean, without a single sin after baptism and confirmation by laying on of hands, receiving the Holy Ghost. I have never been happier. I have received countless blessings since that day and I consider myself the luckiest person in the world, for my God called me and I did not slam the door in His face when He came to visit me through His servants, the missionaries. I invite all to ask and you will receive an answer. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I have been a member since 1995 and am so happy to have found the true Church, Church of Jesus Christ, who lives and leads His Church through a living Prophet. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet and has translated with the power of God the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ. With the Holy Bible they hold the fulness of the gospel, which we "Mormons" live every day of the week, trying to obey all the Lord's commandments and keep our covenants with Heavenly Father, so we may live with Him again some day. I love to serve in the Temples of the Lord and bring souls unto Heavenly Father. I pray my family will join me one day so that our family can be together, forever. During my 18 years of membership I have served as a Librarian, Second Councillor in the Relief Society, women's organization in the Church, a teacher in Primary Organization and in Relief Society, and as a National Director of Public Affairs. I was on my way to my Mission as a Temple Worker in Washington D.C. Temple when I met and married my elderly husband. We currently serve as Ward Missionaries and I am a visiting teacher to three sisters. I love my callings as I have always wanted to share the gospel and bring inactive members back to church and find new souls to be rescued.
