Hi I'm Fiona

I am Scottish, married, a mother and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am Scottish, have a wonderful husband and four wonderful children! My family are my greatest interest and at the moment I am a stay at home Mum! After leaving school I went to university and studied physiotherapy-something that I loved doing and hope to return to when the kids are a bit older. My hobbies are pretty much whatever the kids are getting up to and I love nothing more than taking photos of them while they are growing and loving life! I have always had a love of swimming and walking in the countryside and look forward to doing more of this with my kids as they get older. We have just moved house and now have a garden and we are trying to rear some chickens and grow some veggies! I enjoy laughing and spending time with family and friends!

Why I am a Mormon

I feel that knowing about my Saviour Jesus Christ and his teachings have helped me become a better person. I am happier as I have been able to repent of the mistakes I have made in the past through the atonement of Jesus Christ and move forward. When life gets tough for what ever reason I have been able to go to him through prayer and receive comfort and hope. This has helped me be a better person, a better wife and mother although I am far from perfect! :) I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints is His church here in the earth today and my membership is something I value greatly. I love the world that we live in, it's variety and I love people! I know that there is goodness and happiness all over the world outside of this Church, however from my own life I have come to realise that the Gospel of Jesus Christ found in the teachings of the Bible and Book of Mormon provide a recipe for the kind of happiness that lasts! The commandments that as a younger member I thought were restrictive are in fact there to guide and protect! I have found great joy in gaining my education something that my church encourages. I found great joy in getting married to my husband again something that my church encouraged. I have put my time and energy into having a family and that was something that I knew went against what a newly qualified professional does but the joy and fulfillment I have got from bearing and rearing children has outreached even my own expectations-this was again something my church encouraged! I have such a love for the family I came from and the family I now have made with my husband and I want to be with them forever and this is the belief of our church; that families are eternal! This gives me the greatest feelings of hope and happiness. I think I am getting more out of my life than I would have without my membership in my Saviour's Church and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love to teach my children all about who they are and help them realise their own potential and my religion plays a big role in this! My kids love to know that they are not just my children but children of God and that they have a Father & Mother in Heaven that loves them too! We read the Bible or Book of Mormon as a family for a short while every night before bed and we help the kids say their own prayers. We try to make sure that we spend every Monday night as a family, sharing stories from the scriptures, playing games and baking goodies every now and then! Sundays are a special day which we spend at church and visit family or go for walks. The children enjoy going to Primary which is part of the church service for all children 11 year old and younger. Here they learn songs and stories from the Bible and Book of Mormon through lessons and activities. At the moment I am one of the leaders that help to run and organise this Primary service at Church, it is good fun! I try to make time to read my Bible and Book of Mormon every day even if it is just for 5 minutes! I get a lot from that as it reminds me that I am a trying to follow Jesus Christ and helps me make better choices in every area of my life. I pray often and I feel that this helps me remember that I am not alone that I have a Father in Heaven who knows me! With four kids I have very little "me" time in the day but sometimes when it does come or if I am doing the dishes I get my Ipod and listen to talks that our prophet, apostles and leaders of our church give twice yearly and this gives me a boost as again reminds me that I am a child of God and it makes me feel happy. This is how my Faith fits into my life!
