Hi I'm Susan

Life is all about choices and consequences. Here's some choices that I'm proud of: I'm a wife, I'm a mother and I'm a mormon.

About Me

My family are so important to me. I'm a very happily married wife & I've been blessed with 3 amazing daughters. I love family camping trips, days out and just spending time together. (Oh, and I'm not ashamed to say that I'm a bit of a theme park rollercoaster junkie!). I enjoy playing and watching volleyball. I also enjoy watching cookery shows and singing along with my favourite music. Its kind of ironic actually - these three things are also my weaknesses because I'm unfit, prefer to eat out rather than cook and there's no chance of me ever landing a recording contract! My most enjoyable way to pass the time is to relax at my piano. It's so theraputic for me. I've played the piano since I was about 5 & had lessons from church members until my early teens, since then I've been self-taught. I have a HNC in Public Administration but a few years ago I decided to become a mature student. I attended College again and graduated with a HNC in Early Education and Childcare. I'd well and truly caught the Education bug by then and decided to enroll at Strathclyde University where I achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and Social Services. For the moment I'm a stay at home mother because I know that's what my Heavenly Father wants me to do right now.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because I've received many spiritual confirmations about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I've been a member of the church all my life but I became less active when I was about 18. I stopped coming to church for approx 15 years until I felt prompted to return with my children. Re-introducing the gospel of Jesus Christ to my life is the best decision I've ever made. I wanted my children to know that they had a Heavenly Father that loves them and cares for them. I wanted to be a better mother to my children. I wanted my children to have friends with the same high standards that I was teaching them to have. And guess what - I started taking my children to church every Sunday and my husband ended up coming along too! We were sealed together as a family for all time and eternity in the Preston England Temple in Oct 2010. I'm now working hard to keep the promises I made there. Its difficult sometimes but I know that I can rely on the Lords help. I know that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are inspired scriptural texts. I know that we have been blessed with a living prophet to help us in our day. I know that I need to do more than just be a good person to return to my Heavenly Father - I need to live my life in accordance with His rules and His commandments. If you know me and want to know more about what I believe, then please don't be shy in asking. If you don't know me - ask the missionaries, they can help!

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day. I pray & read my scriptures daily both on my own & with my family. Family scripture study rocks! We started reading the Book of Mormon together in Oct 2010. As of Apr 2013 we're halfway through. Our children are still fairly young so we read a few verses each day & put the focus on understanding & applying the principles we've read about rather than how much we've read. You can't live a faith if you haven't learned it. I'm trying to learn it & live it with my family. I try to be as helpful as I can to family, friends & others. I know how much my Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ love me because of what they've done for me. I love feeling loved. If I can serve others then hopefully they will feel loved too. Every Sunday I am very blessed to have the opportunity to serve the children & families in my local church unit. As Primary President I have responsibility for co-ordinating gospel teaching for children ages 18mths-11years old. Learning should be fun & learning about Jesus Christ is no different. I love the children that I serve. We sing songs, play games & have a lot of fun together. I'm so excited to play just a small part in each of their lives & help them understand the gospel. I'm an advocate of education. I love the fact that the gospel of Jesus Christ is so beautifully simple that it can be taught from birth. Anyone of any age can learn about Christ. There's no such thing as deep doctrine - only deeper understanding and conversion.
