Hi I'm Brooks McFadden

I'm a photographer, a singer, and a hiker.

About Me

I'm a servant of Jesus Christ. I'm doing my part by serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love serving in the California Santa Rosa Mission and the blessings of the Book of Mormon. I'm very interested in photography. I look at everything with an aesthetic perspective. I judge everything by quality of light and don't know if it's a curse or gift. I'm a camera nerd either way. Portrait photography is by far my favorite. I also enjoy singing music that ranges from pop radio to Mozart. My favorite pop artist is "Keane". My favorite choral artist is Eric Whitacre.

Why I am a Mormon

The opportunity to be with family together forever really motivates me to be a better person. I couldn't imagine not being able to see certain people ever again. If I couldn't see a close family member ever again I don't think I could bear it. The chance to return, not only to our Heavenly Father, but our earthly families as well is the reason why I live my faith. I truly had my own conversion during my senior year of high school. I had been attending church regularly and participated, but I lost my testimony as I got involved in time consuming hobbies and school activities. My life was then out of order and I needed to make changes, if I wanted to live the life I planned. I made several changes during that year so that I could be better prepared for a mission. What helped the most was reading the scriptures consistently and praying more sincerely. I have also been able to come closer to the Savior through the Book of Mormon. I believed that He was a person and that He did many great and important things, but it is because of the Book of Mormon that He has become real to me. Being Mormon is a lifestyle. As I have lived this lifestyle I have seen the difference in my attitude. It's not always easy. It seems like it's too much at times, but I have learned that as long as we take steps towards this lifestyle we can do it. It blesses me with the assurance that God is there. It helps me know that He is aware of me and that He knows me, even by name.

How I live my faith

I would have to say that teaching is by far my favorite way to live my faith. I am able to share and help others learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ. It's always inspiring to see others answer questions that lead them to share their love of Christ. I am able to learn so much even when I am teaching. I feel that music is also a very important part to worship, so when their is a song in church, you should sing it like your praying.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Brooks McFadden
A testimony is your personal gift. It is a gift in which the Holy Ghost helps you know the aspects of the gospel of Jesus Christ to be true. It is a personal conviction that you feel. It is a knowledge of Christ and His Church which has been restored to the earth through Joseph Smith. A testimony is a knowledge of anything. We all have a testimony that the sun will rise and we don't start with a knowledge, but we work towards it. We believe, know, and then rely on Christ. Show more Show less
