Hi I'm Gary Chandler

I grew up on a farm in Weiser, Idaho. I am now serving a Mormon mission with my wife in Hong Kong.

About Me

My wife, Carol, and I have been married for 45 years. My work over the years was in the electric generation industry which took me to all 50 states. We served a mission in the Asia North Area office from July 2013 to January 2015. Since we came home we tried to spend lots of time with our seven children and 25 grandchildren. Now we will be serving another mission in Hong Kong. My favorite hobby is travelling and we have been to many countries. My favorite places to visit are Hawaii, Israel, and London. The most beautiful country I have visited is Norway. Japan was also a very beautiful country with wonderful people and history. We also visited Guam, where I served in the Army back in the early 70s, and Korea while we were in Tokyo.

Why I am a Mormon

My LDS faith isn't just something I live but rather it is who I am. I want to do what the Lord wants me to do because I want to return to live with him, his Son, and my family for eternity. My LDS faith assures me that I can do that if I continually repent and try to do my best. The Savior will make up the difference through His atonement. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the answer to all the suffering, pain, and sorrow in the world. Maybe I can't change the world but I can make good choices for myself, raise a good family, and try to be the best person I can be.

How I live my faith

I grew up in a home where I was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ. I served a Mormon mission in the Colombia-Venezuela Mission from 1968 to 1970. I have served in many callings in the LDS church's wards and branches, always trying to help others. I also served on the city council in my city. In all my work and travels, I have always tried to be a good example and treat others with kindness and respect as the Savior would have us do. I have met so many wonderful people in the world that I believe there are a lot more good people than bad people.
