Hi I'm Jessica

I'm a California girl with a country heart. My family is my world! Serving is a joy and I'm a Mormon. (:

About Me

I'm a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, a missionary, and a missionary girlfriend. My brother is on a mission and he is serving in Maryland. My missionary is serving in Texas! I grew up loving the beach and all things outdoors. Hiking, camping, and fishing are some of my fondest memories. I love Jeeps, off-roading, and sharing those times with good friends. I was taught to be strong and stand up for what I knew to be true. My parents taught me to never back down even if it meant I had to be the example...and stand alone. I have always loved to serve anyone who needed anything and I continue to live that as I meet new people here on my mission and the rest of my life. I will serve my mission and then continue to be a member missionary after. From there, I will further my education and do all I can to reach my goals.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and I never doubted it. Life hasn't always been easy. There have been some times in my life where is was just plain hard but because I have faith in my Savior and my Heavenly Father I always knew those times would end and I was never alone. The Lord has blessed me so much and I know that I have grown so much stronger because of those hard times. The Lord is mindful of each of us. I know this church is true. I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father. I know Christ chose to come here and make the sacrifice needed to live again. I know He lives and we can all live again. I know because of that sacrifice for ALL of us, that I can be with my family forever. I know that their is a binding power in the church that makes it so we can be that way. Knowing I am able to turn to turn to my Savior and that his arms are outstretched towards me brings me the most peace. He knows everything I've been through and will ever go through. I know that is true for me and for every single person that lives, has lived, and will live. I know the gospel of Jesus Christ is back on the earth in its purest form and it was restored through Joseph Smith, a humble boy with a question. I know if we ask our Heavenly Father any questions like Joseph Smith did, He WILL indeed answer. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Right now, I live my faith by serving my mission here in Minnesota! One of the greatest joys that we have in the church is knowing we can be with our families forever. That is one of my favorite parts of teaching others the gospel is seeing their family and knowing they can have that blessing of being together forever like mine will be. Being a Mormon isn't a once a week thing, its a daily commitment. Everyday it is important to see how the Lord has blessed your life and thank Him for doing so. There are tender mercies from the Lord every moment of our day! By reading the scriptures, serving those around you, and praying often you become more like our Savior. That is how I live my faith.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jessica
The Atonement is something I have come to understand throughout my entire life. It is hard to sum it up in short manner. It is the suffering of our savior Jesus Christ, His death, and His resurrection. Jesus Christ truly has felt everything as I said before. He KNOWS us, knows our pains, our trials, our sorrow and most of all our JOY! The atonement was necessary so that we can all have the opportunity to repent and to change. It reads in Mosiah 14:3-5 "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." That last line "with HIS stripes we are healed" has taught me so much. He can heal, He can forgive, He can change us, He can encircle us in love, and we can become different people. The power from the Atonement can only do those things for us if we allow it. We need to understand that He needed to come for this purpose and it was incredibly infinite for all of us. He loves us and He is ever reaching for us even if at points in our lives we may have turned from Him. He never turns away even if at times in our life we may turn from Him. He never leaves us because He know us perfectly. Show more Show less
