Hi I'm Madeleine

I grew up in Salt Lake City. I have a twin sister who is my best friend. I am serving a mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

As a daughter of a lesbian, I have not been raised in a so called "normal" Mormon environment. However, the knowledge and love and sensitivity for other lifestyles and backgrounds that I have gained is a blessing I cherish beyond compare. I have been given the beautiful opportunity to be raised in two households by two very different parents with two very different lifestyles, my mother- agnostic and lesbian, and my father- a Mormon. Through this opportunity, I have gained the privilege of thought and choice. As I was brought up in two often-contrasting manners, I learned to use wisdom and discernment in my decision making so as to do what I believed was right while still honoring both my father and my mother, as the fifth commandment directs. Through this beautiful blessing, I have discovered myself in this diverse little world and have learned to love God and every one of his creations. I tend to spend most of my time playing my saxophone and other instruments on occasion, dancing (ballet and ballroom,) and writing- mostly poetry. I am engaged to the love of my life. I have been called to serve in the Georgia Atlanta mission and report to the Provo MTC on May 22, 2013. I am looking forward to serving and loving God and the beautiful people of Georgia with all of my might, mind, and heart for the next 18 months. :)

Why I am a Mormon

Since childhood, I have been raised (or half-raised) as a member of this gospel. I would go to church each week with my father, aunt, and twin sister and blissfully laugh and sing as I learned the simple gospel basics that Primary children learn. I did not know, nor feel the need to know, any principle more complex than love. The pure love of Christ. As I have grown and learned more of the gospel and more of the world, I have come to rely on this basic principle to remind me that good reigns over evil, happiness over contention, and light over darkness. I strive to remind others of the same. Love is the reason we are all on this little planet; with it, all good things follow. God's love is perfectly pure; as we follow, we will glide through this drop of eternity. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through love. It is the simplicity of the Gospel that nourishes us, the simplicity of Christ's love for every one of us. I thrive to love another as He would, in every action I make, every thought I think, and every word I speak. My primary goal each day is to make someone else's better. As I journey to Georgia, I plan to do just the same: teach love, spread love, live love. :)
