Hi I'm Larry

I grew up on a dairy farm in Syracuse, Utah. I have been an active Latter-day Saint all my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My most important attribute is that I am married to a wonderful wife. Together we have raised 5 great children and currently have 9 grandchildren. I am a teacher in the Church Educational System and have taught seminary and religion classes for 36 years. Though I have served in civic positions, the greatest interest I have is serving others through the many opportunities I have had in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have seen miracles occur through the exercise of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. These miracles include physical and emotional healing, but more importantly, I have seen and participated in spiritual healings and a change of life. Each of the experiences I have had has strengthened me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when eight years old, but I have studied, prayed, and learned the gospel for over five decades. I have come to know that being a member of the Church by baptism is not the same as being a member of the Church by testimony and service, including baptism. My testimony has grown strong over the years. I have been directed as to what I should do on countless occasions. I have come to know that exercising one's faith is more than wishful thinking. It requires humble obedience and dependence on the tender mercies of God. For me, the foundation of my testimony is the realization that any good thing that has ever occurred in my life is a direct result of the goodness of my Heavenly Father and of the sacrifice and mercy, granted to me, by His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. The more I learn about this Church, the more impressed I am with the focus of all that is done - to help the children of God have a happy life on earth and to return, as families, to live with Him in the eternities to come. Everything I know about this Church is miraculous and true, from the First Vision of the boy, Joseph Smith and the translation of The Book of Mormon from the gold plates, to the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ, including priesthood authority, ordinances, and temples. The greatest gift we can have in mortality is the companionship of the Holy Ghost, conferred by the laying on of hands by those holding the authority to do so, and received by adherence to gospel principles, including prayer, obedience, service, and love. I love this Church, because it is the Church of Jesus Christ. I love Him because of what I have learned about Him through the gospel, administered by this Church. I know that the Savior loves me and all of the inhabitants of the earth because he gave His pure life for us. I know these things are true by the power of the Holy Ghost, and not of man.

How I live my faith

It has been my privilege to be a gospel teacher - mostly to young people, ages fourteen through about 23, and to those of all ages. I have been involved in political campaigns, served on the school board, and learned a great deal about education, both at the secondary and post-secondary levels. My appreciation for educations and for educators has grown over the years. I have helped organized seminars and emergency preparedness meetings for several communities and have participated in some table-top exercises. I am very appreciative for first-responders and those who risk their lives trying to save others. It has been my opportunity to preside over large congregations of members of the Church . Along with my wife and several other caring individuals, I have spent many hours at a juvenile correctional facility, trying to assist young people who have struggled, to find their way. Of all the many church responsibilities I have been given, the most wonderful was that of being a home teacher, to visit families each month and help them in whatever way I could. I have seen how the gospel changes lives. I know what can happen when we humble ourselves and try to live a life of goodness, as outlined by the Lord in His scriptures and through living prophets.
