Hi I'm Lucy

I sing in a bluegrass band. I love hairless rats and speak Japanese. I don't have a hometown. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a recent graduate from Brigham Young University. I work as a Japanese language developer at the Missionary Training Center and love my job so much I'm thinking of a Masters in the subject. My parents were divorced when I was 9 years old and since then my life has been quite the roller coaster. I've lived in Albuquerque, Denver, Salt Lake City, Dallas, Pittsburgh, New York City and Tokyo. I've probably had every pet you can think of, but I absolutely love hairless rats! Most people who know me well would probably describe me as pretty quirky. I served a full-time mission in Fukuoka Japan, and I miss it everyday! I love singing and developing my ability to play the guitar. Right now I'm insanely lucky to be part of an amazing bluegrass band with six of my best friends. We enjoy traveling and performing, sharing the light of Christ to people through music. I have more blessings and opportunities in life than one person should have, and I strive everyday to remember that and be worthy of them.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the gospel helps me stay positive and happy! Studying the teachings of Christ in The Book of Mormon and other scriptures daily helps keep me grounded. I feel a sense of purpose and clarity when I align myself with what my Heavenly Father has in mind for me, and I've come to realize that the only thing He cares about is what's in my heart and my willingness to try my best.

How I live my faith

I'm so grateful for the knowledge I have of daily repentance. I know that each day, if my thoughts are turned toward my Father in Heaven, I can start new- a clean slate. I rely on that daily forgiveness to give me hope that I can reach my full potential in every aspect of my life, whether it's work, school, my relationship with Christ, or my musical endeavors. I love that knowledge because it gives me cause to stay positive and hopefully brighten the lives of those around me.
