Hi I'm Ed

I enjoy travelling and the great outdoors. I have a beautiful wife, 4 grown children and live in Harrogate, England.

About Me

My family moved quite a bit when I was younger but we finally settled down in California, USA when my dad retired from the U.S. Air Force. After I got married I also joined joined the Air Force and have lived in several places such as Germany, Virginia, Texas, and Montana;which we now consider home. I currently live and work in Harrogate, England but hope to return to the States in the near future. I'm almost 50 and a few years ago, I decided to go back to school and finish my degree, this year I completed that goal and now hold a Bachelors degree in CyberSecurity. My High School sweetheart is now my wife and we have been married almost 30 years! We have 4 beautiful children that are now grown and either raising a family or going to school themselves. One of my jobs I had took me to a part of the World not many people travel to; Saudi Arabia. It was interesting to live and work there and on occasion, discuss my religious beliefs. While living in Montana I really fell in love with the beauty of the land there and all the great things the Lord has put on Earth to enjoy. A great day to me is standing in the middle of the Missouri River with a fishing pole in my hand, trying to pretend I know what I'm doing. If I don't catch anything, that's fine too because listening to the river rush by and smelling the pine trees is enough for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a faithful member of the church for over 40 years. While I was younger, I think like most kids, I relied on my parents to keep me going to church. When I got older and eventually married, I found that the values they instilled in me and the teaching of the church were what kept me happy in life. The church teachings have always made sense to me and are a great comfort in what can sometimes be a chaotic World. From the health beliefs such as no smoking or drinking, to the doctrinal teachings I have been taught while young; I never really felt like I “missed out” on anything this life had to offer. I've read the Book of Mormon and have found that it is a perfect compliment to the Bible. What's amazing to me is that although the authors of he Book of Mormon lived many hundreds of years ago, the teaching contain in it are still relevant to us and our circumstances today. If you read it and have a true desire, you will understand and know these things also.

How I live my faith

I currently work in the church helping my Bishop keep his schedule straight although I have had many callings throughout the years such as Sunday School teacher, Youth teacher, and Scoutmaster. Something I love about our church is that we take care of each other and one way I help do this is to visit several families in my Ward (congregation) each month to ensure they are doing well. If there is a problem that I can't help them with, I report this back to our Bishop so he can help. Each person in our church does this and are assigned families of their own. I know it is an inspired arrangement setup by the Lord and having someone that visits me each month, helps me to know I am not alone.
