Hi I'm Kyla

I am from Provo, Utah. I am a dancer and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a dancer. I enjoy multiple genres of dance such as ballet, jazz, modern, tap, contemporary, hip hop, lyrical, and folk. I am currently a college student studying Dance Education. I have a passion for dance and I want to share that passion with others as often and as much as possible. Everyone has an "inner movement" that is just waiting to come out. The art of dance is healing and teaches numerous life lessons. I hope to instill a love of dance and of movement to help everyone find their own inner movement to help better their life and connect their mind, body, and spirit. I also love the performing and competing aspect of dance. Along with dance, I also enjoy continuing my study of American Sign Language, cooking, singing, and horseback riding.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a Mormon. This faith helps bring harmony into my life. It helps make sense of the world around me and answers the big questions of life. Throughout the years, I have had many testimony-building experiences, some small and some a bit larger. The combination of these experiences have helped me know the truthfulness of this Gospel. Though I still have questions and still have so much to learn, I know that this Gospel is true. Jesus Christ is real. He lived and died for you and for me. Seeing what this religion brings into my life, I know that I never want to live without it. The blessings are too great. I can be happy knowing who I am, where I am going, and that God knows what's best.

How I live my faith

Some people think it is impossible to be a dancer and a Mormon. But it's not! Yes, it is hard and requires faith, but it is possible. You must strive to learn as much as you can about both dance and your religion so you know both aspects as much as possible. You must then decide your standards and live them. Never stray from these. Use guidelines given to us from the church to help you. Do not let the influence of the world to get to you. You are a child of God who must always stand as that. When you do this, dance and religion can go hand in hand! Currently, I am the Family Home Evening "mom" or coordinator for my singles ward. We are assigned a group of students that becomes our "family" and we hold family activities on Monday nights. We have spiritual thoughts and activities that bring us closer together as friends and help us prepare to have home evenings with our future families. This calling is a big job but has taught me so much! I am also a visiting teacher. This means I am assigned a sister in the ward that my roommate and I visit once a month. We share a spiritual message, ask her how things are going, see if there is anything we can help her with, and sometimes even bring her a treat! This way while the church looks over all of us as a whole, we can each look out for each other individually. This is a wonderful calling to get to know people on a deeper level. You truly love those you serve.
