Hi I'm Cortney

I'm a proud wife and mom. I'm a perpetual planner but try to enjoy my life one day at a time. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm wife to an amazing husband and mother to one girl and one boy. My family is everything to me and I love being a mom! I moved around a lot growing up but claim Texas as my true home. I attended college at BYU in Utah and then we stuck around here. I graduated in Interior Design and worked in that field before having my kids. I love being creative. I also have a serious sweet tooth and I love anything chocolate! I like to shop, workout, blog about our family's adventures, work on things for n our house, throw parties and spend time with friends. I like to be busy and I am always thinking about the next project or adventure.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been Mormon my whole life. I am naturally a very faithful and believing person so growing up I never questioned why I went to church or believed these things; I just did. As I grew older I began to understand that I needed to really know, for myself. I have encountered several trials and experiences throughout my life that have helped me in my own personal conversion. I now know that I wholeheartedly believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ and I love it. I know without a doubt that I am a daughter of God and that He is my loving Heavenly Father. My knowledge of this gives the strength, courage and confidence that throughout my everyday life I can turn to him and that he will guide me in all that I do. I know that when I pray I am talking to Heavenly Father and that he is listening. I know that he will answer my prayers. I know that Jesus Christ is his Son. I know that Jesus is a real and living person who walked on this Earth and led a perfect life that ended in his crucifixion, a death that he chose to save each one of us. I know that Jesus Christ was resurrected after 3 days so that I have the opportunity to return to heaven to live with them again. I am so thankful for my family. I know that the family is the most important unit on the earth and that we have the opportunity to be with our families throughout all eternity. I think that is a beautiful and inspiring goal. I believe that the words in the Bible and the Book of Mormon are true. I know that if we study the scriptures we will gain knowledge and understanding in ways that only the spirit can teach us. I also am thankful that we have a living prophet. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet. He is the Lord's mouthpiece on the earth today and is was chosen to lead and guide our church. I strive to live my life everyday in a way that is pleasing to God because I know that I would have such a different life if not for this wonderful gospel that leads and guides me each day.

How I live my faith

We attend church every week as a family. I love going to church because we keep such a busy schedule that it helps me re-set and prepare spiritually for another crazy week. At church I work with the young women ages 12-13. I love getting to know the youth and helping them as they are discovering who they are and what they really believe. Being a teenager isn't easy, but it was definitely a huge time of learning and growth for me so it's fun for me to see it from this perspective and try to help them and teach them whatever I can. Living following the principles of the gospel blesses my life everyday.
