Hi I'm Jay

I'm a Cadet, a Book Fanatic and a Connoisseur of Yarn. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in Lancaster California. I want to be a lot of things when I grow up, but most importantly I want to be a mother and raise my family with the gospel of Jesus Christ. While I don't know exactly what order everything will go, but I know God is at the helm and everything will work out. I like crocheting for my friends and family. I love to study history and the way that humanity has changed over the centuries. I love reading. I'll read anything I can, but my favorite book is still the Book of Mormon! I was involved with JROTC all through high school and still love the lessons and the strengths I gained there. I learned how to inspire others through following the Savior's example of "Whoso would by CHIEF among you, let him be your SERVANT". I love helping others. It has always been the way for me to feel better and I love seeing the smile it brings to others. I love to work with my hands and make things better or cleaner and make others happier.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because this church is true! I know that our Heavenly Father loves us and has a plan for us, and I know he is still watching over us through a modern day prophet! Why would Heavenly Father work through prophets for thousands of years of the Old Testament, to stop now? He is the same yesterday, today and forever, and I feel His love all around me.

How I live my faith

I love to help people! However much or however often, I try to follow Jesus Christ's example in serving others. It doesn't have to be a huge act of service, and they never have to know. I just feel so happy when I give service to others!

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon was written by prophets of The Lord living on the American continent. As the prophets of the Bible did, they also wrote their experiences down for us to learn better how to follow Jesus Christ. It was written around the same time as the Bible, and while the stories and different, the message is the same. Heavenly Father loves us and He sent Jesus Christ to help us get back to Him. What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I once stood out on a mountain side and looked out for miles on miles of open forest. The trees petered out to the desert floor, the river was a faint strand far below and the sky looked vast enough to let go and dive into it. I fel the sun warm my bones and knew that this Earth couldn't be an accident. I wasn't a chance happenstance, and neither was anyone else. There was a God, who made Earth for me to live on and gave me life. He gave us the most beautiful, wonderful planet to live on and I am very grateful for his generosity. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes. God has called prophets since the days of Adam, and He has called one today. The duty of a prophet is to lead and guide people according to the will of God. And if the people in Biblical times needed a prophet to lead them to a physical freedom, we definitely need a prophet to lead us to spiritual freedom. Our prophet is always a man called of God and sustained by the church. God has promised to always send us guides, and he always keeps his promise. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

I believe that Mormon women are some of the happiest and most confident in the world. They are secure in the knowledge of who they are as daughters of God. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints treats us all equally. We're all women, trying to be Christlike and charitable. No matter what we're like, we find all find peace and joy that comes from following Jesus Christ. Men and women are equal in the church, because we know that men and women both bring something unique to the table that helps get work done. I saw both in JROTC and in church, how women and men worked together to bring about a greater whole. We need women and men together in order to be great. Show more Show less

What is the Relief Society?

Relief Society is the women's organization within the Church. In Relief Society I see women who help each other and strengthen each other. Quiet, humble women who help one another, not for praise, but because we feel a need to help each other. Women need to build each other up, not tear one another down. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

We know that we are children of a loving Heavenly Father, and that we all once lived with him as brothers and sisters. Our families are a mortal extension of that family, and we want to be with them forever, because we love them. Families provide great love and support during the trials of this life, and are the steady rock we can rely on during troubled times. Although not all famlies are perfectly organized, we know that Heavenly Father wants us to be in families and to learn from one another and grow. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

It's comforting! The knowledge that God speaks to man today gives me great hope for the world! There are no unanswered questions, no incomprehensible knowledge. What I don't understand yet, I will someday. But right now, right here, I have a family that gets along because we want to be together forever. I have friends that hold me to the standard I set, instead of dragging me down. I have a life that isn't perfect, but is safe in knowing that God loves me and Jesus Christ died for my sins and wants me to do better every day. Show more Show less
