Hi I'm Tyler Ashby

I am from Sandy, Utah, and have been blessed to be raised in the Church. I love the Lord's teachings, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a college student studying Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. In a few short months, I will be able to serve a mission in Goiania, Brazil. I am very excited to take two years and give them to the Lord. One thing that I absolutely love to do is play sports. I have played baseball and basketball for many years, and play other sports as well. I love to be active and interacting with people through sports. I also love music. I have played several instruments throughout my life such as piano, percussion instruments, hand bells, and guitar. I also love to sing. I can't say I'm very talented at any of these things, but I still love them. I also really enjoy listening to American Country music. I love other types of music, but country is my favorite. I think I am a very friendly person, and try to be kind to everyone I meet. I love talking to people and meeting new people. I can be shy at first, but once I get to know people, I am very open and talkative. My family is another great part of my life. I have 3 sisters and 2 brothers that I love dearly, along with my parents. I am the youngest of the six of us.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to be, and I know there is no other way to have Eternal Happiness. I was raised a member of this church, but as I have grown up, I have gained a great and powerful testimony of the truth of the gospel we believe and follow. It has come from many different sources: reading scriptures, listening to our prophets and other leaders of our church, humble prayer, attending church meetings, and a couple other similar ways. I have come to know the truth this gospel holds, and the happiness it can bring. I know that I can have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost, which acts as a comforter, an inspirational source, and many other critical roles that can benefit my life. I know that Joseph Smith was the instrument that God used to restore Jesus Christ's true and only gospel and church, and that Joseph was a true prophet. I know the Book of Mormon is true, as is the Holy Bible. These Holy Scriptures offer profound peace and can guide us through our trials as we follow their teachings. I know that same gospel which was restored is the one I live today, and the only church which teaches the fullness of the gospel is still guided by a holy prophet, Thomas S. Monson. I have come to know all of these things through prayer, and obeying the Lord's other commandments. I love my Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ. I know they love me. I have come to know this through the teachings of this church, and I know there is no other way. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live up to everything I believe. I have been able to serve many others through different callings that I have had the opportunity to have. I love serving other people, and try to do so as often as I can. I love to help others in ways that I have been helped as well. Another important way that I live my faith is obeying the commandments that we have received. I love reading my scriptures. There is so much to learn from them, and they offer an amazing and simple way to feel the Holy Ghost. I also love following commandments we receive both in scripture and from our modern prophets. I know that as I pattern my life after these teachings, I have become very happy. The biggest way that I am currently living my faith is by serving a mission. I am going to Goiania, Brazil, to teach other people about the wonderful Gospel of Jesus Christ which was restored by our Heavenly Father through the prophet Joseph Smith. I am so excited that I can offer two years of my time to help spread the gospel that has brought so much happiness into my life.
