Hi I'm Hayden Mickelson

I enjoy discovering new music. I like visual art. I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well, i guess you could say i try to always laugh and have a good time. I am serving in the Alpine German Speaking Mission beginning May 1st, 2013. I have had some good times with my friends. This consists of things like building a bike ramp to jump into a lake, going on a ride with our street bikes, and taking a trip to California to go gold mining. I try to remember fun times like that, because at other times we would just sit around at someones house with nothing to do. These past summers i worked on a potato farm with my older brother and one of my good friends. We moved pipe, drove forklifts, cleaned everything, and did various other projects. Probably the funnest thing we did was crawling into smelly, sloppy, maggot infested tunnels to clean them out! Notice the sarcasm. It was a good job though, it gave me a sense of accomplishment, and it made me want to get an education. I have been blessed in my life, probably with more than i deserve. I want to work hard enough to earn all that i have been blessed with, and always remember to have a good time along the way. Shout out to my boys Corey Jensen and Steven Bergeson!!

Why I am a Mormon

I have had the gospel throughout my life, but i have not always believed. I have had the examples of others around me, but in the end it was me alone that made the choice to become a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I enjoy being independent and free to make my own choices. In high school i grew out my hair, but my father didn't like that too much. In a way it was an act of rebellion, but to me that seems pretty minor compared to other forms. But hey, if there wasn't a little rebellion in history, there would be no United States of America. So i guess the point of this little story is to express how i like to make my own choices. I do strive to make sure my choices are all good ones. The choice that i made to serve a mission was a good one, and i would not have done it if it wasn't my own choice. I have read the Book of Mormon, because i chose to, and i know that it, as well as the Bible, is the word of the Lord. The Holy Ghost can manifest the truth of these things unto you, as it has to me, as you read and come to understand the Savior and this gospel.

How I live my faith

It can be hard at times, but i do my best to be a good example to others around me. There are a lot of my friends that are leading good lives, but there are also others that haven't been making the right choices at times. They aren't bad kids, they just need to get back on the right path. I have questioned myself at times, have i done enough or could i have done more to help them? In the end, all you can do is set an example and be there for them. That is why i love this gospel, the help you and others can give. The foundation of the church is built upon helping others. Our Savior spent his whole life and ministry serving others. If we are to follow His example, shouldn't we do the same?
