Hi I'm Ryan

I grew up in Scotland. I'm a husband and a father. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

My name is Ryan, I was raised in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Scotland. I'm married to a wonderful woman, and we have a beautiful daughter. I'm a big football (soccer) fan, I love to watch it and to play. I play regular weekly football with a group of friends (who are both mormons and non mormons). I enjoy cooking, but I'm not sure if my family enjoy it when I do! My favourite hobbies involve spending time with my family. We enjoy going swimming, to the park, going to the soft play area, to the zoo, and sometimes just going for a walk.

Why I am a Mormon

I was taught the gospel at a young age, and as a young boy I remember asking God if this church was true. I remember feeling happy and excited. I felt that this was my answer. Since then I have continued to read, and pray about, the Book of Mormon. The answers have also continued, but now I feel a calming and peaceful sensation which comforts me and I know the book is true. I have felt the same feelings as I have listened to, and followed, the leaders of the church. As I have lived the commandments of God I have seen the promised blessings in my life. It was while living the gospel that I met my wife, I know that this was a great blessing from my Heavenly Father. I know that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church. I know that it teaches the fulness of the Christs gospel. I know that Christ leads this church through His living prophet. I'm glad to be a Mormon!

How I live my faith

As a family we are very involved in the church. We often participate in events outwith our regular Sunday worship. I am a home teacher also. Along with another man in the church, I visit with a few families each month to help them with anything they may need. We provide a spiritual message and also assist in any service which they may require (anything from tidying the garden to moving house). I currently have responsibility in the local church unit for a group of men over 18 years. I organise a class for said group each Sunday. I often teach in that class.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Ryan
We love the Bible. The Bible is the first book in our canon of scripture. We use the bible to teach the principles and doctrines of the gospel. We hold the bible in high regard, because it is in this holy book that we learn about the life, teachings, and atonement of our Lord Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Ryan
We disagree with the practice of homosexuality and same-sex relationships. This is not in harmony with the teachings of the gospel, and the desires of God. We love all of Gods sons and daughters, but we cannot condone the practice of same-sex relationships. God consecrated marriage between a man and a woman. This is a sacred institution which should kept sacred. Like all good parents, our Heavenly Father wants us to experience the things that have brought Him greatest joy. Gods greatest happiness has come from creating and raising His children (us). Therefore, He desires that we have the same joy and happiness from procreation and family life. This cannot be recreated within same-sex relationships, as there can be no procreation! God has ordained marriage between man and woman -husband and wife- to be the place where children are born and raised, and any deviation from this is contrary to Gods plan! Show more Show less
