Hi I'm Ellie

I'm Chinese-Japanese, from Orem, Utah. I love music, adventures, traveling (mostly to eat), and making people laugh. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently a full-time missionary serving in the West Virginia Charleston Mission! I have 3 older sisters and 1 younger brother. I am studying secondary education at BYU-Hawaii. I want to become a music teacher, preferably at the high school level. Scary, I know. I play a lot of different instruments, hence the music teacher career. I play piano, violin, viola, percussion, steel drums, Japanese drums, and Tahitian drums, to name a few. I want to inspire people, mainly younger kids, so that they can live better lives and uplift those around them. I love being with my family! We love to travel whether it's by car, boat, or plane anywhere in the world (preferably the places where you can buy lots of great cheap junk). I love all things medical; anatomy especially fascinates me. I love paddle boarding and going on adventures!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church and, like every other member, I have had my struggles. There is always an inner turmoil within us all but I was (and still am) determined to find the right path. I learned that conversion is a lifetime process and that everyone has their struggles. I learned that through our trials, we become strong if we have faith and endure to the end. I am determined to be a light to the world and to let my light shine. Christ has helped me every day of my life, especially during those times when I feel most distressed and the darkness tries to overcome me. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it contains the truth of all things. If we just open our minds and our hearts to understanding, the Book of Mormon can lead us to the answers we seek. I know that without Christ and His gospel, I would be completely lost in life and would be in the depths of despair. I know that God lives and that through Him, we can all be happy.

How I live my faith

I was born and raised in Utah, which is known for the majority of Mormons (especially in my city). I loved living in Utah because I loved being surrounded by people who had the same standards as me and where we all try to uplift one another. I am going to dedicate 18 months of my life to the work of the Lord in West Virginia because I know that it will strengthen my faith and build the faith of others.
