Hi I'm Matt

I grew up in a southern Canadian town called Stirling. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 20 years old. I am currently serving in the best mission in the world. The Nevada Las Vegas West Mission. My hobbies include maintaining my fish aquarium that houses my turtle named Pete, I like to play guitar, I also like to work out, I like to play basketball, I like hanging out with my friends, and playing some xbox.

Why I am a Mormon

I actually had the privilege of being born into the gospel and having been raised and baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Although I was raised by my mormon parents, as I grew into my teenaged years I started to fall away from the church. I got a job when I was 15 that made me unable to attend church on Sundays which was definitely not helpful to my situation. As time passed I started to give in to peer pressure and I did not have a testimony. Later on I started to date a mormon girl and she has really helped me to really think about the whole mormon thing and I realized that even though I had been born and raised in the church, I did not have a testimony if that makes any sense at all. Later on in our relationship my girlfriend asked that question I was never really sure of, the one I haven't really given much thought before. She asked, "Are you going to serve a mission?" This question really got me thinking about my life and what I was really doing with it. I later knelt down at my bedside and I think I said my first real prayer. I've prayed lots of times but they were always so robotic and repetitive and thats what made this prayer so powerful and so different from all the rest. I prayed to my Heavenly Father asking him if he was really out there and that if the Book of Mormon was really true and also if I should serve a mission. At that moment as I was praying, I really felt the spirit in a way that I never have before and I knew my answer, I finally had a testimony. I see that as a real turning point in my life and I'm afraid to think of where I would be if I never started dating this girl. We are still going strong and I'm going even stronger in the Church as my testimony is growing every day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a good example to others, I read the scriptures often and attend my church meetings, and I pray every day.
