Hi I'm Nathan Baker

I'm a runner, I'm a student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love running. I've run a half marathon and have managed to hurt myself before every Ragnar. I'm going to school at BYU, and loving it. I'm majoring in applied math with a chemistry emphasis. I like the sciences and math. I plan on becoming some sort of doctor or medical researcher. In high school I sang in Chamber Choir. I was cross country and track captain.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but have had multiple times where I have reexamined why I am a Mormon; every time the Lord has confirmed that this is the place for me and all the rest of God's children. Reading the passage in the Book of Mormon of Christ coming to the Nephites was one of the first times that I realized that I knew I had a testimony. When I started to question my faith I went to the top authorities on God: the scriptures. I wanted to know one way or the other about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, so I gave it a chance. As it says in both Ether and Alma, in the Book of Mormon, and many times in the Bible as well, you shall know by the fruits of your labors. After reading the Book of Mormon, I had feelings that the church is the church of God, the "fruits." I knew that the Book of Mormon was true. I knew that it had to be the truth. It was a feeling that did not come from me. It was a feeling in my heart that my head didn't know, however, once I had that feeling, it was an immediate recognition of truth for my head. There is no denying a testament from the Holy Ghost, if you are ready to receive it. It is as if knowledge is given to you. I know with all surety of heart and mind that The Book of Mormon is the word of God, and because of this, I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Why I stay Mormon with all the rules? As Peter says "To whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life."

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day. In my young single adult ward at college, I was in charge of organizing my groups "family home evening." We had a short gospel lesson, games, and refreshments. I learned a lot about patience and love. I came to love the other members of my college family from this; I also learned a lot about them. I try to be faithful about daily scripture reading and personal prayers. I learn so much whenever I read the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. It has become a love of mine. I want to be an example to all that I come in contact with. I'm currently a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm serving the Spanish speaking people in Southern Texas. I am dedicating two years to the Lord for his purposes. I am more than happy to do this for my savior.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?
