Hi I'm Elder Brewer

I grew up in Utah. I've traveled the world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah and have 10 siblings, which is chaotic yet fun. My Mother is a college German professor, which means that my family and I frequently travel to German and Austria on Study Abroad's with her students. There I have learned German and made new friends by enrolling into the German Gymnasiums (schools) there. This developed a love for languages and culture that I have not been able to fully satisfy (hopefully a mission can solve this). My mom is a real trooper, if I could say so myself. She has even adopted 5 children because she decided 6 boys wasn't enough. I enjoy making electronic dance music, which I create from scratch on my desktop, along with playing the organ. I also enjoy mountain-biking, which is odd, since I am not a very active person. Also, if you got to know me, you would quickly find out that I am really pretty nerdy. Yes, I play and enjoy Dungeons and Dragons and frequently have troubles limiting my Gaming time... Oh well.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it blesses my life. It is as simple as that. I might not have a strong testimony that all the teachings, stories and ideologies are true, but I have learned that all the principles that I have decided to follow have greatly increased the Happiness in my life. For instance, I do not drink alcohol or any other things that might damage my body. It might seem like I am missing out on some fun. Actually, I am gaining an education. Alcohol won't help me study and sleep well and it definitely won't help me find a job. Also, my brain and body remain unaffected by those potentially addictive and dangerous chemicals. Another example of this is my choice to value both family and education. The Mormon church centers around building strong and supportive families. My parents followed the Church guidelines and have brought me up in a wonderful family. My family has brought me incredible happiness. They are always fun and always supportive and I can't wait to start my own family. Starting a family that I can support will need education. Seeking education has taught me how to work and has taught me how to analyse my life and be introspective. I have become patient and deep. Pretty much, the church and its blessing have had so much good influence in my life that I would never want to leave it. The list of blessing just goes on and on. In time, I will develop a strong testimony of its truthfulness, but until then, it is my source of Happiness.

How I live my faith

I attend my church every Sunday, a whopping 3 hours in fact. Although that may seem like much, I really enjoy the building topics taught in the meetings and the genuine socializing that I find there as well. I always feel safe and calm when I go, which helps me push on through the busy weeks to come. Sometimes, I also devote my Monday evenings to spend time with other Mormons. We usually start with small spiritual messages after which we play games and simply socialize. I make sure to do this every week and generally set aside my homework to do so. I come away more productive afterwards anyway.
