Hi I'm Jacob Westover

I love fixing things, I'm number 8 of 12 children, I love my family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been blessed by God with the ability to fix just about anything. I love sharing that gift with those around me who need help fixing their broken things. I am happily married to the love of my life and cant wait to be a father someday. I'm a welder, I'm an inventor, I'm a business owner and I love life! I feel blessed to live in a country where I have the freedom to worship God as I see fit and that I can share my love of God with other people. I realize that this freedom comes at a cost, a great cost that is paid daily by brave men and women. I am so grateful for their sacrifice. I love learning new things and sharing the knowledge I gain with anyone that can use it. I know that Im a child of God and I know that as His child He has given me the ability to return to Him through His son Jesus Christ. I know that despite the tumult of the world around me there is much more to life than meets the eye. I honestly and truly believe that there is life after this life and that the relationships that we develop here can carry on to the next life. I believe its only in and through the atonement of my Savior Jesus Christ that this is possible. He is the way, the truth and the life that brings us back to our Father in Heaven.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have learned through trial and error that their are rules or laws that are set forth by God that are meant to protect us. When we follow these laws or commandments we can be saved from a lot of heartache and pain while still being able to learn and grow and experience life. I have come to know that God is literally our Father in Heaven. As a perfect parent, He knows exactly whats right for me and can teach me what I need to know if I will listen to him. I was born into a loving family where these commandments were taught but I didn't really appreciate them or recognize that they were legitimate and worthwhile, I saw them as limiting rules that were put in place to keep me from having fun and enjoying life. I thought my parents were just overprotective and that they were over the top with how strict they were on what we were allowed to do and not allowed to do. So when I moved away from home I chose to just disregard some of those rules. I discovered that it can really hurt to disregard what God has taught us to do and in time I realized that those rules were really there for my protection. Most religions teach commandments from God of some sort or another and while they are good I believe that God chooses to reveal his commandments through his authorized servants called prophets. These men are called by God to act in His name and teach us. They are given something called the Priesthood which is Gods authority to act in His name to bless His children. These prophets organize Gods church and administer ordinances like baptism and other rites of passage that are required by God in order for us to return back into His presence. I have read the Book of Mormon and I believe that it is the word of God written by ancient prophets called by God just as the prophets in the Bible were. I believe the both the Book of Mormon the the Bible were written for the same purpose, to testify of Christ and lead us back to Him and our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I was taught as a child that every single person on this earth is a child of God and that He loves all of us. I have come to learn that God often shows His love for us through the people in our lives who are willing to act on His behalf. I strive to put myself in positions where I can be of service to others and remind them through word and deed that God does exist, that He does love them and that He cares about their happiness. My wife and I currently serve in our church in a young single adult ward for college students and we love it! Its a blast working with people who are near our age but who have not yet found their spouse.
