Hi I'm Austin Whaley

I love everything outdoors. I am currently serving a mission in Florida, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Logan, Utah until about the age of twelve when my family decided to move up to Idaho. I have three siblings in my family. One brother who is currently serving a mission, and two little sisters who are truly a great joy and blessing in my life. While growing up, I never really got involved in school sports like soccer, basketball, or football. Instead, I developed a great passion for other activities that were a little more extreme and different. I love going outdoors and participating in anything that I can. I enjoy snowboarding, rock climbing, hiking, camping, boating, longboarding, and unicycling. Outside of my hobbies, I devote my time to school, friends and family, serving others, and now, serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have gained my own, personal testimony and witness from God, that this is Jesus Christ's true church on the earth today. I've grown up in a family that has always been strong in the Gospel, and they have taught me everything that I have needed to know in order to have a testimony of it. When I was younger though, I didn't truly know for myself that the church was true. I had just sort of taken my parents word for it. When I got older and decided that it was time for me to gain my own testimony, separate from that of my parents, I took the steps that are necessary for one to take in order to obtain a testimony of this Gospel. I whole heartedly read, from cover to cover, The Book of Mormon. As I read and pondered its words, I began to gain a testimony of the truthfulness of the book and of the things I read. When I had finished the book, I took Moroni's challenge to pray and ask God to know if these things were true. My answer did not come all at once as it does for some people, but it actually came to me throughout the process of searching and pondering as the Holy Ghost witnessed simple truths to me. From that point on, my testimony has only grown stronger as I have received more confirming evidence from the Lord and the Holy Ghost that this is the true church. I can now say that I know this, and that I know if we listen and follow the commandments and teachings of this Gospel, we will be greatly blessed. For this is God's plan for us.

How I live my faith

I have always done my best to live my faith worthily and do as I've been commanded by our loving Heavenly Father. I always strive to live the life that I know the savior would have me live by following His example. I attend my church leadership meetings, and do my best to lead as an example for my fellow youth. I pray and read my scriptures daily, in order to gain a stronger testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am now at a very crucial point in my life where I truly have to live by my faith in serving as a full-time missionary. It's a great opportunity for me to show my love for our heavenly father and his son, Jesus Christ by performing this service to bring about his work.
