Hi I'm Parker

I write poetry, play violin, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm Parker, and am currently serving as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Washington Vancouver Mission. I love to read and write poetry, and also enjoy reading and writing science-fiction. I'm a huge Lord of the Rings nerd and could tell you almost anything you wanted to know about the series. I love duct tape, and have four duct tape ties that represent the four Hogwarts houses. I play violin when I can, and also compose a bit in my spare time. Before becoming a missionary, I spent a lot of time in the Boy Scout program and volunteered as a Cub Scout leader.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of the church has always been a blessing, especially during life's hardships and trials. We all have those and they can't always be avoided. Yet knowing that their is a loving God who is our Heavenly Father brings comfort to me, especially when I pray for guidance and help. God wants to help us, and His help doesn't always come as we picture it, but it comes in a way that is best for us. We can feel his love for us as we seek Him in our lives. As I've sought to live the teachings of our Savior and participate in the church, I have been happier and more productive in my life. I find that things fall into place better. I gain a desire to serve more. I grow in knowledge of the scriptures as I ponder their teachings. I feel the Spirit testify that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's true church that he restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I've gained a testimony that grows daily as I strive to become a better person that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer, and that through him we can repent of our sins and return to live with God again. God has a plan for each of his children, and through prayer and scripture study, we can learn what that plan is. I have a testimony that Christ lives, was resurrected from the dead on the third day, and walked with his disciples by the sea. I have learned for myself that the Book of Mormon is true, and is a second witness of Jesus Christ. It is a companion to the Bible, so that all may learn of Him and walk in his ways.

How I live my faith

As a missionary, my purpose is to "invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end." From a small child, I always wanted to be a missionary, because the Gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed my life so much, and the message is truly inspiring and uplifting! I believe in following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ, and showing forth Faith, Hope, and Charity. Before serving as a missionary, I would teach these things to my scouts, so that they can taste of the power of the Atonement and become better men of God.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries teach about the gospel of Jesus Christ. They teach that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can repent and gain the opportunity to return and live with God, our Heavenly Father. They also teach about the Book of Mormon and how it is a companion witness with the Bible of God's plan of happiness (or plan of slavation) and of His love that he has for each of us.
