Hi I'm Ellie

I live in Scotland. I love writing, languages and literature. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

At the moment I study German and English at university in Scotland. I grew up with my family in England, and we are now spread across England, Scotland, Ireland and the United States. Some of my greatest loves are speaking German, reading really old literature and creative writing. Unlike many people, I also really love grammar! One of my favourite things to do is to help people to learn and to love learning. I love working with children who are struggling at school or want help to excel so they can achieve their dreams.

Why I am a Mormon

As a child I was always encouraged to go to church, but I was also encouraged by my family and leaders to find out if the church was true for myself. I am grateful to know for myself that it is true. I have found that the best way to know if the church is true is to live the standards of the Gospel, then you will see the enormous impact it has on your life. I have seen that keeping the commandments and doing what is right brings feelings of safety, peace and happiness. No matter how hard the challenges of life become, there is always comfort in knowing that the Gospel is true and that I can find guidance through prayer and through reading the scriptures. Being a member of the church gives me an outlook on life that I would not have without the Gospel. When I am faced with decisions, difficulties or problems, I am always able to turn to the Lord and ask for help and have an eternal perspective. I am grateful for the opportunities the Gospel gives us to grow and to learn, I love that we can improve spiritually every day and make positive changes to our lives. Knowing that Heavenly Father has a plan for me gives me a sense of direction in life and allows me to live my life in a way that will lead me towards what he wants me to do. I know that living the Gospel is the way to eternal happiness.

How I live my faith

I try and life my life by the phrase 'Teach the Gospel at all times, and if necessary use words.' I understand the importance of speaking to people about the Gospel, but living in an environment with very few Latter-day Saints has taught me that people learn a lot about the Gospel just by observing the way you live, and they notice even more if you're happy. As well as living the standards of the Gospel I try to show people that this is an uplifting way to live and that it brings joy and peace into our lives. I love being a member missionary and every opportunity I have to tell people about the Gospel. Being a university student offers me many opportunities to tell people about the Gospel, share my beliefs and let people know why we live the standards that we do. I have also had the opportunity to be a teacher within the church. At first I felt a little overwhelmed as I would be teaching adults of all ages, but it has really helped me to grow in confidence as well as to grow spiritually. I also love to teach with the missionaries and see the amazing changes people make in their lives by accepting the Gospel into their lives.
