Hi I'm Brooke Lemmon

I'm a rock climber, slack liner, and traveler. I practice and teach yoga and meditation. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I never thought I would end up living in a small town in Idaho. I thought wrong. Rexburg, Idaho has been my home for three years as I have attended BYU-Idaho as a full-time student. Although Rexburg is my home away from home, I am constantly traveling and exploring. I enjoy rock climbing, backpacking, yoga, meditating, slack lining, painting, experimental cooking, running, and being in nature. Every day I strive to find happiness in something small. This usually occurs in nature: watching a bird fly, making eye contact with an animal, feeling the warmth of the sun, the smell of a pine needle, or watching the trees move in the breeze. My favorite source of peace is watching the sky. I love how vast the clouds are and how they are constantly changing. I feel closer to God as I appreciate His creations. I also love to spend time with those I love, my family and my friends. In the middle of my third year at BYU-Idaho, I received my mission call for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and couldn't be happier than to give my time to serving the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My parents and brothers are all Mormons and so I was raised a Mormon. However, becoming a Mormon was not forced upon me. I went through many challenges in my life only to find out for myself that this is God's true church. I am a Mormon because I choose to be a Mormon. Through trials we become stronger as we rely on the Lord. He is my constant source of strength. I know he is the Savior and Redeemer of the World. His gospel is true. I testify that the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a prophet called of God. Just as God called prophets such as Noah and Abraham in ancient times, he calls modern day prophets. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. The Book of Mormon along with the Bible can be a source of strength and nourishment. I know all things testify there is a God. We are all children of our loving Heavenly Father. I witness that He knows and loves each of His children. I follow His gospel and I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

As a student at BYU-Idaho, I have had many callings in many different Young Single Adult wards. However, the calling I have enjoyed greatly is being a teacher. I have been assigned as a teacher for many different classes in church. I enjoy preparing to teach and learning from the class members. I feel that by teaching others about Christ and the things He taught, I have become closer to Him. Although being a teacher requires much work each week spent preparing, I have come to live my life centering everything on the Lord. One of my favorite scriptures is Philippians 4:13, which says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." I believe that by being completely obedient to God's commandments and striving to live a life like the Savior's, we can truly experience peace and joy. By turning to God, He will help us through our righteous desires. I live my faith by having faith in God each day.
