Hi I'm Amanda

I grew up in Utah, I wasn't a Mormon. I joined the Army then Moved to Tennessee. Now, I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Most people think that since I grew up in Utah I have been Mormon my whole life. I have not, I tell more about this in Why I am a Mormon. I am married with no children at this time we are looking forward to starting a family in the future. We are still newlyweds our first anniversary is this year. Right now we just have what I call furbabies. I have two pit bull type dogs that are my children right now. I am an advocate for the breed and my "babies" are ambassadors for the breed. We try and show people that the reputation they have is not how they really are. They are the most loving and loyal dogs I have had. I work as a security officer and recently started my own business as a Consultant for Thirty-One Gifts, which I hope will become my full time job so I can be a stay at home mom when we do have kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in Utah, I spent the first 21 years of my life living there. I'm pretty sure my family was one of the only, if not the only family in the neighborhood that was not Mormon. In 2004 I joined the Army I then deployed to Iraq in 2005, while I was there I decided to move to Tennessee. So after I was home for about six months I moved to Tennessee with where I have remained since. I got married in the six months that I was home before moving, unfortunately we did not work out and got divorced a few years later. Lets fast forward to 2011. One of my best friends decided to move to Tennessee from Utah so it only made sense that she moved in with me. While she was living with me she asked if I wanted to go to church with her one Sunday, I said sure why not. I had been looking for a church since I had moved to Tennessee but hadn't found one that fit me just right. I knew there was a Mormon church in my town I just never thought to go visit. After I went with her the missionaries started coming over and visiting with me which then turned in to lessons and me praying about being baptized and if this was all true. I got my answer and I was baptized on Christmas Eve of 2011! The best Christmas present ever! My life has become so much more than i thought it would. I have re-married and am so happy that we will be starting our eternal family! My life has been so much more since I was baptized it is amazing to see where my life was before and see where it is now. I wouldn't go back to my old life for anything in the world. I'm happier than I ever have been and I know it is an eternal happiness because of this wonderful gospel!

How I live my faith

I am very active in my calling as the Young Women's First Counselor. I try to live my life and be an example to the young women in middle school and high school that I am leading. I let them know about my past in hopes that it will lead them down a better path than I decided to take. I believe that leading by example is very important and I need to live my life the way I am teaching these girls to live theirs. If they see how it has made my life better and helped me through tough times they will want to live as I do and as the Lord has asked them to.
