Hi I'm Dottie

I taught high school and later 2nd and 3rd grade. I gave away a kidney and was a perfect match. I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in California my whole life except when I went to Brigham Young University. I always wanted to be a teacher and a Mom and I got to do both. I wanted to be a stay at home mom, so I taught preschool and subbed while my five children were home. The day my last daughter went away to college, I signed up to teach again. Now, I am a grandmother and absolutely love it. My grandkids call me "Lolly" and their grandpa "Pop". I love going to their recitals, soccer games, T-ball games, birthday parties, and any other little outings we plan. I love working with people and helping others.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ all of my life. Many of my ancestors walked across the plains with handcarts. They left beautiful homes behind and could take only 17 pounds with them, and that included everything. They walked about 1400 miles in all kinds of weather. They suffered many hardships to go to a place where they could worship God the way they knew was right. They have left a legacy for me and all their descendants to be proud of. Now, I want to leave that same kind of legacy for my children and grandchildren. I love my Savior very much and want so much to be like Him. I want to serve Him and help others to have the same blessings and peace that I have. I do not know what I would do if I did not have a testimony of the Savior and His Church. I know there is a prophet on this earth just like Moses and Abraham and all the others that God chose to lead and guide his children. He loves us too, and knows we need his guidance today just as much or even more. He has given us the Bible and a second witness, The Book of Mormon to testify of Christ and His teachings. These books together bear record of Him, the only perfect person to live on this earth, who gave His life for us that we may live again. I am so grateful to live at a time when the gospel has been restored to the earth, the same church that existed when Christ lived on the earth. He wants us to return to Him, for he loves all His children. There is a way for us to live together with our families. I want this more than anything and that is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I try to do whatever I am asked by my church leaders. I love to serve. Most of my life I have worked with the Young Women in the Church. I have loved watching them grow into wonderful leaders of tomorrow. I have also worked in the Primary or with the children. This also has been a great experience for me. Right now, I am a ward missionary and I wish I could share what I have with every person I know and even those I don't know. My life is not perfect, but I appreciate everything I have and all the blessings that God has given me. We all have our trials, but when we help each other our trials are lightened. The Gospel of Jesus Christ brings peace into an otherwise troubled world.
