Hi I'm Karen

I am a twin, a farmers wife, and a mother of 5. I drive a school bus. I love being a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in a very close family of 8. I have a twin sister who I am very close to. My father was not always active in the church, but he was a good man who always provided for our family. My mother was the main source of my gospel teachings. Many times she took us to church all by herself despite the hardship of getting us ready and then trying to keep us reverent. Dad would come on occasion. When he wasn't out of town working. I met my husband just before he left to serve a mission for the church. We corresponded in letters, and when he came home I married him. We have 5 beautiful children who have blessed me now with 12 grandchildren. I love being with my family. I enjoy camping in the mountains. I enjoy being around people. I have been called a party person because I hate missing out on gatherings or activities. I am currently a school bus driver which I love! I use to be a preschool teacher and I love teaching little children. I find I am the happiest when I am serving other people.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always grown up as a Mormon but true conversion is a continual growing thing. As a young girl I loved the songs we sang in church. The first strong feeling of the spirit I recall was when we were singing I wander when He comes again. I did not understand then but I felt a very warm feeling and had tears in my eyes. I always had a feeling of homesickness for heaven but did not understand it at that time. When I was about 7 years old my mom and dad were sealed in the temple. I remember a beautiful feeling of love there but when we walked in the room to be sealed, and everyone was dressed in white I felt like I was in Heaven. As I got older there were little experiences with that simple warm feeling that kept me going. When I was raising my kids there were some struggles and trials. I remember a dear lady telling me if we read the Book of Mormon that the contention between my children would go away. I put it to the test and things definitely improved. I have found answers in the Book of Mormon of how to help a struggling child. When I read about Christ loving the little children in 3 Nephi I feel that same feeling I had as a little child of love and longing for home. I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and I know they live and are aware of me. They have blessed me so much in my life.

How I live my faith

How I live my faith is a day to day process. The most important way to live my faith is by loving others and being kind to everyone I meet. I try to do this by smiling and acknowledging the good in them. I enjoy taking meals to a neighbor, welcoming new people that move in, helping clean homes or yards, or just visiting with those who are lonely. I have worked with youth, adults, and young children. It doesn't matter if your a member of the church or not, we are all children of God and should treat others that way, and act that way. As I said it is a day to day process of repentance and trying harder each day.
