Hi I'm Melvin Mayard

I am a Mormon, I work in retail in the South of London.

About Me

I have an interest in biblical historical sites and artefacts, astronomy and quantum physics. My first job progressed to management were a total 10 years in McDonalds and moved to high street retail with 'Tesco' and now with 'The cooperative'. I have a Master in Business Administration, I love learning about everything especially the experience of life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born of very good parents who preserved my freedom of choice, growing up mostly influenced by Hinduism. At a young age I remembered a few points of what my mother taught me of Christianity; the almighty God who created all things, Adam and Eve, Noah's Ark, Abraham's test and Jesus Christ who died for us. One Ester season when I was about 12 years old, the Holy Spirit touched me deeply and I was brought to my knees in tearful prayer. I did not fully understood what was happening at the time but at the end of my prayer I was left with an overwhelming impression that I needed to find out who God and His Son were? One year later I moved to England, where my biblical study started. A few years later, I discover the more I learnt, the more questions I had. I had exercised faith and trusted in the Lord that when I find the truth, I would know (John 8:32) for sure. Over ten years passed then one day the Missionaries from 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints' knocked on my door. They share the gospel and introduced the 'Book of Mormon' to me. Immediately I felt the spirit testified of its truth and I had a desire to read it to know for myself. After two months I was baptised, my questions as to the true nature of the God head, who we are, where do we come from, what are we doing here, where are we going after this life and many doctrinal principles were answered. I am a Mormon in the same manner that I am a Christian, in the same way the Lord refers to His disciples as Saints, who follows living prophets in every dispensation, living by faith NOT evidences from the world. I know 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints' is the only true Church of JESUS CHRIST on the Earth, for the Lord have testified it to me by the power of Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

In my home Ward (local church) being the 'Crystal Palace Ward', I am an Elder in the office of 'High Priest', I also serve as a lay minister. Sometimes I am asked to give a talk on a gospel principle, where I would prayerfully study the principle and study the scripture time over again for inspired revelation that everyone may benefit in their own way. I am assigned as a 'Home teacher' to feed and strengthen the Lord's flocks by sharing the monthly message from the living prophets into the members’ home. It is my daily practice as commanded by the Lord in the latter-day revelations to pray always and study the scriptures that we may live by continuous revelations, it is a wonderful feeling of consciousness.
