Hi I'm Jacintha

I was born in Sierra Leone. I know the Saviour lives and love him with all my heart. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently doing my A levels and will love to study international law. I intend to specialise in commercial, international and immigration law. This has always being my field of interest mainly because I desire to help people and believe that the law is particularly pertinent in contemporary society. As a person, I love sports, drama, creative writing, adventures, cooking and generally spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy learning languages and the lifestyle of people from different cultures. I believe that life is a Journey and the only way to survive is by helping each other, learn from our mistakes and never be boastful of what we achieve for nothing is permanent in life. My aim is therefore to work hard, establish good relationship with those around me and help others that are less privileged. I am the youngest in my family. I have two sisters and parents whom I love and cherish. One of my best experience is spending time with my family. I believe that family can be together forever. Love, support, understanding and patience are all attributes of a successful family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I believe in God the Eternal Father, His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. I enjoy learning about the true Gospel. I know that God (Heavenly Father) loves the world, He knows us individually and is hoping that we use our 'Agency'( Freedom to choose) wisely, so we can live with Him again. I value family relationships and know that family can be together forever. I'm a living witness, a later-saint, willing to testify that the Lord lives and that he is the way, the truth and the light.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in various ways: Praying; this has strengthen my relationship with the lord because I know that he always listens to my prayers. Repentance; this is my recipe to come closer to the saviour. It enables me to acknowledge my sins, be sorry, confess, reconcile with others and strive to live a better life. Fasting; I believe that fasting is necessary for one to receive answers to certain prayers. Fasting shows humility and reliance on the lord. Service; this involves love, selflessness, sacrifice and charity. Everyday, I find opportunities to serve others. Modesty; I maintain modesty through dress code, language, the programme I watch, the way I act and treat others e.g. avoid profanity. Ensure a healthy lifestyle; I try to maintain a good balance diet, exercise daily and drink enough water. Study the scripture: the scriptures are like text books reminding me of who I am and what the lord requires of me. I've gained answers to several questions just by studying(reading & pondering upon) the scriptures Attend church services; this enables me to keep the Sabbath day 'holy', it also reassures me that there are many people out there, who (like myself)loves God. Humility; I try to stay humble because I believe that pride is a disease, it is natural and can easily lead to the downfall of humans. Avoid judging others; my simple principle is 'we are not perfect, hence, we must never judge each other'

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Jacintha
Like many other Christians, Mormons believe that the Bible is a Holy Scripture and the word of God. However, we also believe in the Book of Mormon, which is another testimony of Christ. In no way, does this book contradicts the Bible. Instead, the Book of Mormon testifies that Jesus Christ is our divine Redeemer and by living according to His Gospel, we can find peace in this life and eternal happiness to come. It also reveals the history and God dealing's with the inhabitants of ancient America(2000 BC- 400 AD). Show more Show less
