Hi I'm Rebekah

I grew up in Maine, I'm a college student, my favorite color is purple and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a college student studying Marriage and Family studies with the hopes to eventually work as a children's therapist. I grew up in Maine and now live in Idaho! I love spending time with my family, reading, doing crafts and baking! I recently got married and I am enjoying running my own household for the first time!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in college I discovered that the church that I had grown up it was no longer the right fit for me. I went to fifteen different Christian denominations in two years trying to find one that worked for me. I got really close to joining a few of them but never really felt at home in any of them. This whole time my friend was on a mission for the Mormon church. He was writing me letters and kept talking to me about the church but I wasn't ready yet. When he came home he encouraged me to meet with the missionaries, I did a couple of times but I didn't think it was right. So I stopped meeting with the missionaries and went on with my search. About six months later my friend invited me to his sister's wedding reception which was held at the church building. While I was there I felt something and asked him if I could go to church with him the next day. He said yes and I went and it felt right so I decided to keep going. The next week his family invited me to Family Home Evening (a family night). The missionaries were there. They talked about the plan of salvation and I felt something that was so strong, I was talking so fast and so excited. One of the missionaries told me that it was the Holy Ghost. Two days later after meeting with the bishop about a school thing I knew the church was true. I got to my car and called the missionaries. I told them "The church is true and I want to be baptized" I was baptized a month later. I am a mormon because I know that this is where I belong. I know that this is where God wants me to be. Ever since I joined the church I have been so much happier. Yes, there have been struggles, really hard ones but I now know I don't have to do it alone and that Heavenly Father is always there to help me. I love being able to listen to the Prophet and know that he is chosen by God. I am so grateful that I have the gospel in my life and for the person that it has helped me to become.

How I live my faith

My faith is in every aspect of my life. Every day I pray and read my scriptures. I love doing this because it helps me to know what God wants for me. Every Sunday I get to help teach a class on family history. It is so awesome to learn about who my ancestors were. I feel so happy as I learn more about them. I am going to school now and I go to a church sponsored school. The things I learn here are often about the gospel, it is great to be in a place where everyone holds themselves to high standards. Before I moved to go to school I got to teach six year old children every week. I was so exciting to watch them learn and grow and be able to share in their excitement of discovering new things!

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Rebekah
Pray about it! This is the most common answer you will get but also the most important. Honestly and sincerely pray about it knowing that you will get an answer. Your answer will come through the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost feels different to everyone but will likely feel warm and like this is right! Then listen to what you are feeling! Show more Show less
