Hi I'm Alyssa

I grew up in southern California, I graduated in film, an award winning journalist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Alyssa. I grew up in southern orange county. I went to college at Dixie State in St. George. Growing up it was always my plan to go to BYU and that's what seemed like the thing to do. When it came time to decide where to go to school it wasn't where I should go. My family heritage is in St.George, Utah. I had some relatives who went to Dixie and I never planned on going. After visiting the campus and much prayer I made the decision to go. I never really had a good attitude for the first few years of school because everyone I knew was going to BYU. My original plan was to go into Nursing but after years of tough classes I changed my major to communications with an emphasis in digital film production. While in the program I also took the opportunity to do broadcast, online and print journalism. It was a blast it turned my attitude around about school. Dixie had small classes and much more opportunities than I could have imagined. Even though I didn't go to BYU I was still blessed with the opportunity to do great things and enjoy life. It turned out that BYU wasn't for me, Dixie was and I am grateful that I went there.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. I know by making good choices and living the standards of the gospel that I can be happy and be an example to others. I continue to live my life this way so I can be with my family forever and be happy. I love the opportunity to serve. I am a Mormon because I know the gospel is true. I know it. I live it. I love it. I'm so grateful that I am a member of the gospel and know it is true, I continue to live my life in such a way that I can build the kingdom of God and help bring others unto Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a good example to those around me. I try to speak highly of others and stand up for other people. I make sure I do my visiting teaching on a monthly basis. I have the opportunity to serve a group of girls in my age group. I can help them be stronger and make good choices and be a friend when they need one. I also have had the opportunity to be involved in several service projects.
