Hi I'm Janet

I'm a mother of seven, grandmother of 27 and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a great love of books. I read most every night with my husband. We read books as well as the Ensign magazine and sometimes the Liahona magazine as we both speak Spanish. I am recently retired and am loving it. One of my favorite activities is our annual Kousins' Kamp that we have with our grandchildren. Those three and above, and potty trained come and spend a few days with grandpa and grandma without parents. We have themes and there is always "gear" such as a cowboy hat or a magic wand. We go on field trips, play games, eat ice cream, watch movies and have tons of fun! We have daily devotionals where the children memorize scriptures and learn about some aspect of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We invite the missionaries to come often to present a devotional about missionary work or a principle of the gospel. We want our grandchildren to know that we believe Jesus Christ is our savior and redeemer.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe that I am a member of Jesus Christ's true church. I was born into the church and was baptized at 8 years of age. I have always felt like my Heavenly Father was interested in me. I have had many spiritual experiences which help me to know that He cares and is there for me. I gained a testimony of the truthfulness of His gospel line upon line and precept upon precept. As I study the scriptures, I know they are His word. The Book of Mormon has been a great resource and strength to me throughout my life. I know it contains His word to us. I also want to be with my family forever and through the sealing power of the priesthood, I know we can be together forever-even in the next life.

How I live my faith

I enjoy serving in the church. I have been a cubmaster in the scouting program for the past few years. I love the boys of this age and we have had some fun pack meetings. I have had many callings such as being a visiting teacher ( a woman who visits and checks up on other women in her neighborhood) and have taught singing and gospel classes to young children. One of my favorite activities is to have the missionaries come to our home for dinner. They always bring us a fine message about Jesus Christ and His church.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Janet
I love my family very much and want to be with them forever. I believe that through the sealing power of the priesthood which is God's power given to man on earth, we can be together forever even after we die. The temple provides us with the opportunity to be sealed as families and I'm very grateful for that blessing in my own life. The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us what me must do to receive these blessings. Show more Show less
