Hi I'm Zac Cannon

I'm a student. I'm a scientist. I'm a husband. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Throughout my life I have had a lot of hobbies - reading, drawing, doing puzzles, working with animals, playing the piano, playing football. I guess I just love to always be doing something new, which may be a result of a very small concentration span. Mostly though, I love to learn! I'm currently balancing university life, where I study Biomedical Science, with life as a husband. It is true to say that in both I am required to increase me current knowledge always. I love the beauty of science, how perfectly everything fits together - how complex, yet sometimes how simple. I am blessed with a brain that remembers almost everything I'm told, which led me to science. I can easily say though, that my greatest love is for my wife - I am lucky to have found the perfect women for me who strengthens me and brings me happiness!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, or Latter-Day Saint, because of the teachings given that have helped me to understand my purpose in life. I grew up in the church, and unfortunately watched my older brothers leave the church, often finding it difficult to understand my role. I spent time away from the church when I was about 18 where I struggled to know which path I should choose. The longer I spent not going to church, the heavier my heart began to feel and I soon learnt that I couldn't continue without knowing my purpose. It was then that I began to study, reading the Bible and Book of Mormon and spending a lot of time in prayer. As I did so I recognised the feelings of the Spirit of God in my heart, and I knew that God had a purpose for me This led me to serve as a volunteer missionary for the Lord in South Africa, where my relationship with God deepened. Knowing that God is my Heavenly Father gives me hope that one day I can return to Him and I know the way to do so is set out in the teachings of His church.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as a representative for the 18-30 year olds in Bradford, with my wife. Together we try to teach and uplift them, to help them find strength in the Lord, Jesus Christ. We hope to be able to unite them and help them to strengthen other youth in the church. It is easy to see how difficult it can be for youth in the world today with the challenges they are asked to face. Our hope is that together they can be strong enough to face these challenges and overcome with faith. I am also able to visit the home of people in the area and try and strengthen them too. I visit a few of the older men in the Ward and am grateful to learn from their experiences in life, as well as a wonderful family who I have grown quickly to love. The focus is to always try and help people continue to find strengthen their faith in God.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Zac Cannon
As a keen scientist I recognise daily the aspects of life that show there is a God. I am studying the workings of the human body and it is fascinating to see just how perfectly our bodies were created. Everything in the body works in such unison and perfection that gives evidence to me that God lives, that there is a Creater. Show more Show less
