Hi I'm Becky McClellan

I am a happily married mother of 11 children and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a musician. I play the piano, sing and conduct choirs. I am a mother of 11 children and grandmother to 26 children. Being a mother has been my biggest challenge in my life. I always wanted to graduate from college, but when I got married at age 19 and started having children at age 20, my opportunity to go to school was hampered greatly. But I knew that graduating from college was something I was going to do somehow. So I started taking independent study classes through BYU and later was able to go to a Community College in the evenings. Finally when all my children were in school I was able to go to a University full time and finally graduated at age 50 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members of the church and my ancestors were members of the church so I grew up as a Mormon. But when I reached the age of about 14, I started questioning my beliefs. I thought about the fact that other churches think their church is true, so how did I know that my church was true? It was shortly after this that I went to our Stake Patriarch to receive a Patriarchal blessing, which is a blessing that tells me the will of Heavenly Father for my life if I live worthily of it. As I sat in a chair and the Stake Patriarch put his hands on my head and started speaking to me things that would happen in my life if I were faithful, I felt the Holy Spirit testify to me that these things were true. I knew without a doubt that the church was true and through the years that have followed, of course doubts have come when trials have come, but as I thought back on that experience and other spiritual experiences I have had, my testimony has grown deeper and deeper. I know my prayers have been answered and the Holy Ghost has testified to me that this church is true and that our prophet is a true prophet of God.

How I live my faith

I have been very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints my whole life. I am so very grateful to have had this blessing in my life. Through various callings through the years I have had the opportunity to learn leadership skills, how to work with children and youth and have had many music callings that have helped me to develop my musical abilities. It has been a major factor in helping me raise my children. I have received valuable guidance for raising my children through the talks and writings of our prophet and apostles and through the Sunday classes and weekday classes.
