Hi I'm Walker Hoopes

I grew up in Star Valley, Wyoming. I've been called on a mission to the Dallas, Texas mission. I am a mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of six brothers. I am the student body president at my high school. I played football and wrestled. I now enjoy competitive olympic style weightlifting. I also enjoy riding horses, four wheeling, camping, and shooting guns. I recently received a scholarship to become an ambassador for a university near my home town.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints simply because I know it is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. Its is another testament of Jesus Christ. I also believe that the Bible, The Pearl of Great Price, and the Doctrine and Covenants are all true. These books are testaments of Jesus Christ and his gospel. I also know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that we recieve modern day revelation through prophets on the earth today. I know that God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings. I know that God loves all his children, I know that Jesus Christ atoned for all of our sins and that he is my savior, I know that the Holy Ghost is my comforter and that he will be with me as long as I am making good choices. I am a mormon because it makes me happy. The knowledge of this gospel gives me such comfort and joy. The knowledge that I can be with my family forever as long as I live the commandments of God gives me strength. I have lost loved ones, yet I know that I will live with them again. This gospel is also about missionary work. Part of our responsibilities, as members of the church, are to share our knowledge with others. That is why I have chosen to go on a mission and that is why I am a mormon.

How I live my faith

I am a leader of the boys my age in my ward (group of people I go to church with). I was in the presidency of the local VOA (Venturing Officers Association). It is similar to boy scouts but for boys 16+. One summer, we organized a big bi-steak campout where the boys scouts hiked, biked, rafted, ran, and walked approximately 40 miles through the mountains. The purpose of the campout was to teach the young men leadership and teamwork attributes. I love my family and know I can live with them forever if I live gods commandments. I have been called to serve a mission in the Dallas, Texas mission area. I try to live my life the way god would have me live it. I am not perfect, and I have many flaws. Although I do try to be a good example to others so that they may have the desire to receive the same joy from the gospel that I enjoy.
