Hi I'm Lancelot Urling

I was born and brought up in British Guyana. I have lived in the UK for 56 years. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I did my National Service in the British Army. I am married with three children. I worked for British Steel for 35 years as a crane driver.

Why I am a Mormon

I was searching for the true church. Two Mormon missionaries knocked on my door one day. I listened to their message about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I prayed to know if it was the right church to join, and I received an answer. I knew this was the Church the Lord wanted me to join. . Before I got baptised,I was with the Bishop and Missionaries, and the Bishop asked me if I wanted to be baptised. I said I wasn't sure and asked him to pray, He gave me a picture of the Salt Lake City Temple, and I held it while he prayed. I felt a ring of fire burning in my chest. My hands and feet were shaking uncontrolaby. When the Bishop finished praying he asked if I wanted to be baptised, and I said yes. I was guided to sing a hymn that I had never heard before. It is called I Stand All Amazed.

How I live my faith

I am a faithful home teacher of my ward. I have been a Ward Mission Leader, working with the Missionaries. I have been a president of the Elders Quorum, which is a leader in the Church. I assisted in the organisation and running of the church.
