Hi I'm Spencer

I grew up in Utah. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah, and absolutely love singing and dancing. In my home it is not uncommon to have the piano playing, a sister singing, or my mother harmonizing. Everywhere you look, music fills the halls and love can be felt for one another. While in high school i joined the choir, and found amazing opportunities to lift someones heart by singing songs of praise, and peace. Later during my high school experience i fell in love with ballroom dancing where i got to slide across the floor with the grace of an eagle. Whether i was on stage singing, dancing, or just being a goof, my family, and my Heavenly Father were always there to support.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised in the church my whole life. Every day we would pray as a family, and my mother and father would tell us to "take the time to talk to God on our own." One night specifically I remember kneeling down next to my bed, and asking my Heavenly Father if he was really there, and if he really heard what I was saying to him. Immediately I felt a peace, and warmth in my mind and in my heart. I knew in that moment that God was there. He listened, and knew who I was. I knew then as I know now that Jesus Is the Christ. He lives. He has called a prophet in this day to help us, warn us, and invite us to come unto him. President Thomas Monson is his prophet today. Every time I hear him speak I get the same warm, and peaceful feeling in my heart and mind that I felt long ago. That is why I am a Mormon. I can not deny the truth that I know. I have felt the love that my savior has for me, and know he lives.

How I live my faith

I am an institute representative (LDS Institute of Religion) for my singles ward in Utah. As an institute rep I invite other's to come to classes where they can learn about God, the atonement, and other Gospel Doctrines and Principles. It is such an amazing thing to learn about the Gospel in the morning at the institute building because it allows me to feel more at peace, and to have more energy throughout the rest of the day. Besides being an institute rep I am a home teacher to several beautiful families. I love home teaching with all my heart. Every time we go visit our families it becomes a cherished time where we feel love for one another, and become closer as friends. The spirit is always present as we meet with our families. I will forever be grateful for home teaching, and what it has taught me. Along with that I will be serving as a full-time missionary for my savior in the Madagascar Antananarivo Mission. I am incredibly excited to invite others to come unto Christ because as I have personally come to know him I have been happy, and have felt the desires of my soul become full with love and peace. I am grateful that I can give 2 years of my life to God, when I know that everyday I live is a day that he gives me.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

In my personal life I have found my faith in Jesus Christ increasing as I repent and turn my will over to him. Being a prideful person, it is very easy to go through my day, and to feel that I can do things on my own. Sometimes it takes awhile for me to realize that I am not happy, or that I don't feel peace at the moment. When these times come, I say a quick prayer to have the strength to bend my knees and offer up the desires of my heart. Always, I have received the strength to let go of my pride and kneel down. Love begins to again fill my heart and mind as I talk to my Heavenly Father, and as I tell him exactly how I am feeling. I know that Jesus Christ knows exactly how I am feeling. He bled and died for me. He knows exactly how it is for me to feel pain, temptation and sorrow. Knowing this gives me the strength to ask for forgiveness and the strength to try again, and with his help let go of my pride and sins. Within the next couple of days I feel more whole, more clean, and purified. I feel the sanctifying power of the atonement of Jesus Christ. My faith in Jesus Christ has been increasing every time I go to him in prayer and ask for his help. I have felt his strength and love. I know that he lives. Show more Show less
