Hi I'm James Leavy

I'm from Provo, Utah, born there, grew up there, blah blah blah. And, of course, I'm a mormon.

About Me

I currently attend Brigham Young University, just studying generals (nothing cool yet), though I hope after my mission to transfer to CalArts, MICA, or some other art institute to study, well, art. Seeing this, you can probably assume I like the fine arts. I especially love wheel throwing ceramics,drawing/animation/etc, photography, and others. I love getting out in nature and going up our local canyon early in the morning before sunrise, armed with just my camera and maybe a coat, and try to capture the marvels of our world on film (which I am a sole user of. RVP50 all the way son!).

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with it, for starters. However, I have had times, and still do, of serious doubt. But, no matter what, I can never fully doubt the gospel held within the LDS church, something in me knows it's true. It really all comes down to the way I look at things and the reasons for changing my current beliefs. When I doubt it is almost always a self-centered reason. I really tried finding out if the church was true during my time missionary service. At the start of my missionary service I seriously doubted. For a while I was a brutal nihilistic atheist. I had been going through stages of Major Depressive Disorder and things didn't make sense. I pushed God out of my life and nearly gave up on it. At times I would feel the Spirit and know of the truth, but then the next moment it would be gone. Through a slow process of personal realization and prayer, I began to taste of God's love. The more I climbed the Tree of the Gospel, and the more I held on the Iron Rod, I was brought back up. Through the loving patience and support of my Family, Friends, and Mission Companion I was pulled back up. If it wasn't for that love from the Savior and from my Eternal Family, I wouldn't be able to taste of the goodness of the Fruit of the Tree of Life.

How I live my faith

This is an interesting category, seeing that I have lived in "happy valley" pretty much my whole life, I have never lived without the gospel.
