Hi I'm Joseph P. Hill (Josh)

My name is Josh Hill and I was born in Indianapolis, Ind. and accepted the Gospel in Louisiana and I am a (LDS) Mormon.

About Me

My name is Josh and I am happily married. I am a father to two daughters, two stepsons, a nephew and niece and four other foster children with my wife. We have three Grandchildren from my oldest daughter. They are truly a joy. I love to read and study the scriptures and I enjoy deep sea fishing and an occasional game of golf. I have worked in Law Enforcement most all of my life and am in the process of retiring. I enjoy life and I love to serve others. Above all I love my faith and my family.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was twenty years old, I was a sophomore in College at the University of Southwestern Louisiana. At the time I was of the Methodist faith but was not satisfied. At the time my father and I were living in Lafayette, Louisiana. One day I received a visit from my Aunt and Uncle. They explained to my father and me, how they left the Methodist faith to join another faith. They got my curiosity going about religion again. One day when I was by myself in our apartment, I started looking in the yellow pages. I then came across the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I never heard anything about this faith before. I picked up the phone and called someone at the church and they told me what time services were. The following Sunday I went to attend there services. I went to this church for a couple of weeks and then one day the fulltime missionaries called me up on the phone and asked me if they could come over to my apartment and share with me about there beliefs. I said that would be fine so they came to visit me. When they came to visit me they were teaching me about the restoration of the Gospel. As they were teaching me, one of the missionaries looked me right in the eye and said, "I challenge you Brother Hill, as you read this book, referring to the Book of Mormon, and ask your Heavenly Father in the name of Christ if this book is true or not, he will let you know the truth of this book by the power of the Holy Ghost." He must have known what I needed to hear because I told him I will do that. So that night about 12 midnight, I retired to my room and knelt by my bed and asked my Heavenly Father in the name of his son, Jesus Christ if the Book of Mormon is true, and if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. The Holy Ghost gave me a feeling of joy and happiness that I could not deny. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church.

How I live my faith

I love to serve my Heavenly Father in whatever capacity he calls me to serve. My favorite calling is that of a missionary. I love to talk to other people about our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and how they can be happy. I love to visit other people and check up on there needs and see if they need any help. I also love to attend the temple with my wife.I am currently a Ward Mission Leader and responsible for sharing the Gospel with the other Ward Missionaries and finding people for the fulltime missionaries to teach. My wife and I are also Temple Workers in the Redlands Temple. I have the best of both worlds, serving the living and the dead.
