Hi I'm Trevor

I was born in Oregon. I'm studying microbiology and want to be a dentist. I'm a mormon.

About Me

Growing up I played a lot of sports, football, basketball, and lacrosse particularly. In highschool I also got involved with the school musicals, I was a brother in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat," and I also was a spotlight dancer in "Guys and Dolls." I discovered I love to sing and joined an all-male acapella group called the Y-Chromatones. I went to college for a semester before serving a two year mission in Minas Gerais, Brazil-relatively close to Rio. Now I'm studying Micro-Biology in the pursuit of getting into Dental School.

Why I am a Mormon

Everything comes down to faith. Faith is being will to believe and act on something you can't see or prove. Whether you read something in the newspaper or you hear something in a classroom at some point in time you will have to put your trust in something or somebody. I haven't performed all the experiments that appear in my textbooks but I have faith that they actually happened and gave the stated results. My faith in God has come from first a simple willingness to act on a hope that he lives and is real, and then has grown as I've seen the blessings in my life. As a highschooler I learned that God had warned through his Prophets that we should read the scriptures everyday, pray and avoid things like drugs, sex outside wedlock, and pornography. I decided to follow in faith-hoping that those really were commandments from an all-knowing God-if they were from God, I knew that my life would be more happy and blessed by following them. I can report that I had one of the best highschool experiences ever. I loved highschool. An experience free from the heartache and pain of jail, unwanted pregnancy, the emotional distress of noncommital love, hangovers, or addictions. My faith grew. I had seen the blessings, and the blessings continued...

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon is part of everything I do, because it means I believe God loves me, is conscious of my thoughts and actions, and wants me to help those around me. That's why I go out of my way to try to be nice to other people, to be honest in all my words and actions, and to share God's love with those around me. In our local congregation I teach a class on sundays to the men. This year the class is based off the teachings of one of the early Prophets of our church. I help lead a discussion on those teachings focusing on how we can apply the teachings in our daily lives, so we can be "doers of the word and not hearers only."
