Hi I'm Jenica

I sing for the elderly. I am learning Portuguese. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on the East Coast and love everything about it. I love the history. I love the trees. I love the people. I love living so close to major metropolitan areas. My family sings together. In many ways that has kept us close over the years. I am one of five children. My three sisters and I love to sing Broadway music. About five years ago, following the example of our mother and her two friends before us, we decided to become the "Sedgwick Sisters" and sing Broadway review performances in nursing homes and assisted living places. We have sung in over 50 facilities and done over 300 performances. We have the best job in the world. I attend Brigham Young University and am a Marriott School of Management Business student. Right now I am taking a break from school to serve a full-time mission for the LDS Church in Londrina, Brazil. Eu estou aprendendo português! I am sure serving the people in Londrina will be the most meaningful experience I have had yet in my life. When I return to school, I hope to graduate with an emphasis in Business Strategy. I love singing, drawing, skiing, playing games, being surrounded by friends and family, and making people happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, translated through the power of the Holy Ghost by the prophet Joseph Smith. I know Joseph Smith was called by God to restore the fullness of the gospel truths once again to the earth. I know that through him the proper authority to act in God's name was restored and God, as in days of old, speaks to His children today through His prophet. I know President Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's prophet on the earth today. I know my Savior lives. I love Him. It is through His atoning sacrifice that I can one day return to the presence of God. I know families can be together forever. I know it with all my heart, and I will do all it takes to follow my Savior's example on the path towards eternal life.

How I live my faith

Faith means hoping for things that are not seen, which are true (Alma 32: 21). Through Jesus Christ, we have the hope of forgiveness of our sins and relief from the pain and injustices of this life. Through Jesus Christ, we have the hope for a better world, a place at the right hand of God, even eternal life (Ether 12:4). My hope for these things fuels my faith that they are true. As I act according to my faith by making the changes necessary to align my life with correct principles, I see miracles in my life. I see the hand of God in everything around me. I feel my faith, peace, happiness, and perspective brighten. By choosing to obey God, I receive His strength and I conquer my fears. For me, it all starts with doing something. Choosing to act and obey in faith, and then, I am blessed and I am strengthen even more.
