Hi I'm Austin Alpeter

I'm from Columbus Ohio. I play ultimate frisbee at BYU. I love sports! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Austin Alpeter. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio. I ran cross country and track in high school and I have always loved sports. I went to BYU for a year where I played ultimate frisbee for the school. I am currently on a mission in the West Indies. I'll be speaking Dutch and loving the people of Suriname for the next two years. I love spending time with my family and hanging out with friends. Life is good!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up apart of the church but I had come to know of its truthfulness myself. In fact, there was a time in my life where I considered myself atheist. I was sure the church was false and that I had gotten past the dogma and burden of religion. I thought I had freed myself. I hadn't. I felt a darkness in my life and I couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. I was rude, unkind and I had a constant feeling of contention. I spent a week with the Elders and they kept referring me back to the Book of Mormon and prayer. Eventually I figured it was only fair that I read the Book of Mormon and figure out if it was true or false. I received an answer the same day I prayed. I was overcome with the spirit and I knew that God existed and that he loves me. The rest is history! I'm now devoted to serving my Heavenly Father and becoming like Christ. I'm on a full time mission in the West Indies speaking Dutch!

How I live my faith

I live my faith through trying to love those that I'm around. I'm very imperfect but I'm trying to love everyone regardless of their race, religion or nationality. I see others as my brothers and sisters and just want to understand them. I've come to find that knowledge brings joy and tears down prejudices that we may have against others. Right now I'm on a full time mission helping people come unto Christ and partake of His atonement. I desire and want others to feel the joy I feel and the joy to come.
